mopinko
mopinko's Journalwe do it for the war on drugs, we can do it for the war on child murderers.
asset forfeiture is somehow legal. people who do nothing more than carry a big wad of cash can have it seized, and then have to petition the courts to get it back.
this is far more damaging to our right to due process than taking guns away from some raging asshole.
whatever the legal framework for the war on drugs is, i can see no problem w extending it to the war on child murderers and wife beaters.
yes, i would like to see asset forfeiture overturned. but until it is, i want to see it applied to gun nuts.
daily herald endorsement, including my sister!!
There's something new in the March 20 primary for DuPage County Democrats: the chance to vote in four contested county board races.
The emergence of an unusually high number of Democrat candidates in the traditional Republican stronghold has its roots in several factors: anger with the president; enthusiasm gleaned from Women's Marches; unhappiness with a perceived lack of diversity on a board dominated by white, male Republicans; and the belief that some Democrats can win in November. Here are our endorsements in the Democratic primary for county board; our endorsements in the Republican primary will follow in a later edition

sharing my fb post from this am- it is time to move past the idea of "mental illness"
it is time to move past the idea of "mental illness", a very slippery thing, imho, and start looking more closely at neurology. cte isnt a mental illness, it is a brain disorder. the texas bell tower shooter had a brain tumor. that isnt a mental illness, either. till we move past check boxes to actual biomarkers, it is just meaningless, stigmatizing, and the 21st century equivalent of blood letting and leeches. often w tragic consequences. it's a crap shoot at best to find meds that help.
i hope cruz gets a good mri of his brain at some point. i hope anyone who acts so inexplicably gets a good mri.
it has long been a pet peeve of mine that there is so much stove piping between shrinks and neurologists. they are finally starting to talk to each other. from my experience, the neurologists are for it, but the shrinks are still blaming mommy.
my own kid spent years w therapists before a brain injury was FINALLY found. 15 years of being seen as "crazy" instead of being treated for epilepsy. growing up being seen that way.
this could answer the civil liberties issues. instead of 30 days of probably useless detention, spend 30 minutes in an mri and possibly finding the real issue.
throw in a sleep study, too. the most treatable cause of "mental health" issues is sleep disorders.
there is a ton still to be learned, and testing to be improved, but that is the direction we should be moving. to the future.
lets drop the whole concept of "mental illness" and start talking about brain health.
about those food boxes-
if this were voluntary, it would be one thing. to just shove it down people's throats, literally, is quite another.
i can see where it would be helpful to a lot of people to have food delivered to their homes. even shitty govt cheese is better than a lot of people can manage, even w snap.
but in my hood, packages get stolen every.freakin.day.
it's not as big a problem for people in single family homes, tho they get hit, too. but for folks in big buildings, where housing is more affordable, it's a regular nightmare.
and for those who are couch hopping, i just cant. these situations often end badly. i can easily see people's boxes being grabbed w a sense of entitlement, cuz so and so did xyz before they left.
i dont believe it will save a damn dime, tho. the costs of shipping this stuff just cant be cheap enough to make it worthwhile. unless they are gonna force the postal service to deliver them for "free".
i dont believe it will happen. just another half baked idea tossed out there to make it look like they are thinking.
but it really needs to be knocked down hard.
small minded and outright cruel.
i think one thing that was harvested from social media accounts
was people who were saying they would sit it out.
they scanned the voter rolls, found these people. those votes were sitting there waiting to be harvested.
they had a phony id mill going. they could just send people in to vote in their stead.
my sister is running- are you in dupage? would you like a yard sign?
if you live in dupage 6th district, and live on a busy street, our yard signs will be coming in on monday.
we will be prioritizing good locations, as we only have 100 signs.
we plan to get a lot more if we make it through the primary, so let us know if you would like one after mar 20.
pm me.
sigh. the parent blamers are out.
it makes me sick in my heart to read people here spewing this nonsense.
yes, some parents fuck their kids up.
and some kids get fucked up by life.
and some kids are born w a kink in their heads.
and it can be damn hard to tell the difference from the outside.
