It is clear to most Progressive Democrats that the lame, relentless, and sustained propaganda attacks on Julian by Right Wingers have nothing whatsoever to do with compassion for the alleged rape victims.
They want Julian punished because he exposed the truth about their dearly beloved war machine, brought to us all by the 1%.

The sequence posted below is clearly the motivation for which the Right is engaging in this duplicitous, relentless, and sustained propaganda attack on Julian Assange.
I am making it very clear that this post is only directed at Right Wingers, fair game at Democratic Undergound. However, if, for some reason, this post is hidden, I will have no regrets; exposing RWers and their bullshit, like Julian Assange did, is the first step in making our world more just and equal.
Something that RWers never want to see happen.
I doubt that there is any RWer on this planet who does not wish to see Julian spend the rest of his life in prison for the sole reason that he released information that is detrimental to the agenda of the RW war machine of the 1%.
Anyone who believes that Julian Assange did not know beyond the shadow of a doubt that he would eventually be attacked severely punished by the 1% for releasing massive amounts of clear information illustrating their corrupt motivations is either a fool, or a liar. Julian Assange is a brilliant human being, and not a complete idiot. There are some folks in this world who are genuinely compassionate and altruistic. Compassion and altruism are concepts that RWers do not have the capacity or desire to understand.
Please, look closely at what Julian exposed about what the RW war machine does. Please think carefully and logically about why Julian would expose these things. Think about why he would release confidential and classified information about government corruption that is all relative to the slaughter illustrated below.
Hopefully, then, you will have a clear understanding of why the Right Wing is spreading vicious lies and so desperately wants Julian to be sent to Sweden, first to face unprovable allegations solely as an excuse to have him later deported to the United States, where he will be convicted of some crime like treason or espionage, and will be sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison. The RW not only wishes to punish Julian Assange for slapping the war machine of the 1% in the face. They want to make it so that he will never again be able to expose their corruption and mindless acts of violence perpetrated in the name of the greed and profit of the 1%.
And the 1% wants to send a clear, direct message to you: "Do not resist the authority of the 1%, no matter how corrupt you plainly see that this authority is. Do not dare to expose this corruption. "If you resist our authority we will spare no effort, and can completely disregard all agencies of justice and ethics, in order to punish you. We have the wealth and power to destroy you. Resistance is futile."

The consistent, indignant protestations being posted by some here, in the form of repeated opinions that fail to acknowledge sourced facts and logic, most recently with regard to the undeniable ludicrousness of the Julian Assange case, along with the consistent lack of posting credible sources to support positions and the use of various well known propaganda techniques, has fully clarified the sources of certain duplicitous agendas.
These posters would be well advised if someone were to explain to them that they either need to get real with what they are selling, or give it up. No one here is buying. Our plates are already over full of this type of bullshit from GOP sources, and we don't need it coming from somewhere else as well.

Julian Assange is being smeared and framed by the 1%.
He released confidential and classified information that was instrumental in exposing the corruption of the 1% and some of their international government employees, helping to spark a revolution in Tunisia that was a catalyst for mass civil protest against the 1% in other countries.
Julian is an amazing person, and he, and his skill and knowledge with machines, and in coordinating others with superior skills and knowledge of machines, are possibly the greatest threats that the 1% status quo has had to eliminate to date.
In April of 2010, Julian released footage of US soldiers slaughtering 18 Iraqi civilians from a helicopter in Iraq.
The allegations of sexual assault arose in August of 2010. The stories behind the allegations and subsequent actions by law enforcement personnel are extremely suspect; and there is evidence that the persons bringing these allegations have ulterior motives, other than seeking justice for self-alleged sexual assaults on their persons, for bringing these allegations.
Intelligence organizations in several countries were aware that Julian possessed confidential and classified information that he intended to release at some point, prior to the sexual contact, and the subsequent allegations of sexual assault being brought public.
The persons who allege that they were sexually assaulted by Julian colluded prior to seeking legal redress for these alleged assaults.
There is no evidence other than a torn condom and hearsay, to indicate that any sexual contact between Julian and these women was anything but consensual.
There is no case.
Even if these allegations were true, the alleged assault would be totally impossible to successfully prosecute, given that the forces of justice were applied with complete integrity.
This entire drama is a staged event by a vindictive 1% who are determined to punish Julian for exposing them for the monsters that they are. Using false allegations of sexual assault is the simplest way for the 1% to ruin a person's reputation, and to neutralize their post-allegation actions, without having to have any tangible evidence to do this with. They are using this case, which is already moot, in order to insure that Julian can no longer threaten the status quo of their dictatorial control over world affairs.
Logically: The 1% has all the money and power in the world. Julian spit in their face, after letting them know that he had pissed a bladderful in their caviar before they ate it. What is the 1% going to do about this?
If Julian does make it to Ecuador, he will, like Trotsky in Mexico in the 1930's, have to be vigilantly protected at all times to prevent his being assassinated by some action arising from a dictate by the 1%.

by posting that SPLC had good reason to call them a hate group, and that people should never be dissuaded from speaking the truth because RW media will use it against us somehow. They lie about everything all the time anyway.

If some RW who was part of a RW extremist group shoots a bunch of people, we have good reason to believe the hate group may have had some part in the crime, directly or indirectly. After all, they do preach hatred for others.

The shooting suspect, Wade Michael Page, posed with a Nazi flag on his Facebook page and has played a prominent role in "white power" music groups. The FBI is investigating the case as a "domestic terrorist-type incident."

The numbers in the New America Foundation database may well understate the toll of violence from right-wing extremists. Another FBI study reported that between January 1, 2007, and October 31, 2009, white supremacists were involved in 53 acts of violence, 40 of which were assaults directed primarily at African-Americans, seven of which were murders and the rest of which were threats, arson and intimidation. Most of these were treated as racially motivated crimes rather than political acts of violence, i.e. terrorism.
In contrast, religious hate groups and the RW media could yell about the SPLC, Kos, and MSNBC having blood on their hands, but it would not be true because they are not advocating hating others or actively working to deprive others of their rights.
The difference is fact and truth. We shouldn't stop telling the truth simply because RWers will lie about us if we do. They're gonna lie about us no matter what.
And like you said, disturbed, unstable people are out there, and they sometimes go off, and there is no monopoly on disturbed, unstable people by one group.
But the RW has pretty well cornered the market on violent extremist hate groups and religious hate groups determined to deprive others of their rights.
Non-violent rights advocates like the LGBT community do not preach violence, hate, or attempt to limit the rights of others. If some disturbed, unstable person associates with an LGBT group and later commits an act of violence, and RW hate groups and RW media try to place the blame for the violence on LGBT or Human Rights Groups, well, that's because they lie. It's what they do.
But we can't let that stop any of us us from speaking truth based in documented fact.

More murders motivated by anti-gay bias occurred last year than any year since the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs began collecting data in 1998, the national advocacy organization reported this week.
“Ninety percent of transgender and gender nonconforming people report harassment, discrimination and mistreatment on the job, and the injustices they face have devastating economic and personal consequences, according to a new survey.

No matter what the outcome of the current issue concerning the FRC, the fact remains that they are a still a hate group. Bigots are already politicizing this, and using this incident to cover the fact that the FRC, and other hate groups, genuinely are extremely bigoted conservative hate groups, by trying to gain public sympathy for the group.
They are trying to blame this incident on those who are factually and truthfully, (notably the SPLC and other Human Rights Groups), pointing out the facts about hate groups, because these hate groups cannot stand to have their indefensible blatant bigotry and hateful acts plainly exposed for all to see in the light of day.

Started as a small think tank in 1983, the Family Research Council (FRC) merged in 1988 with the much larger religious-right group Focus on the Family in 1988, and brought on Gary Bauer, former U.S. undersecretary of education under Ronald Reagan, as president. In 1992, the two groups legally separated to protect Focus on the Family’s tax-exempt status, although Focus founder James Dobson and two other Focus officials were placed on the FRC’s newly independent board. By that time, FRC had become a powerful group on its own.

Headed since 2003 by former Louisiana State Rep. Tony Perkins, the FRC has been a font of anti-gay propaganda throughout its history. It relies on the work of Robert Knight, who also worked at Concerned Women for America but now is at Coral Ridge Ministries (see above for both), along with that of FRC senior research fellows Tim Dailey (hired in 1999) and Peter Sprigg (2001). Perkins has his own unusual history. In 1996, while managing the U.S. Senate campaign of Republican State Rep. Louis “Woody” Jenkins of Louisiana, Perkins paid $82,500 to use the mailing list of former Klan chieftain David Duke. The campaign was fined $3,000 (reduced from $82,500) after Perkins and Jenkins filed false disclosure forms in a bid to hide the link to Duke. Five years later, on May 17, 2001, Perkins gave a speech to the Louisiana chapter of the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC), a white supremacist group that has described black people as a “retrograde species of humanity.” Perkins claimed not to know the group’s ideology at the time, but it had been widely publicized in Louisiana and the nation. In 1999, after Republican Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott was embroiled in a national scandal over his ties to the group, GOP chairman Jim Nicholson urged Republicans to quit the CCC because of its “racist views.” That statement and the nationally publicized Lott controversy came two years before Perkins’ 2001 speech.

At a time in history when we desperately need to be protecting our resources and environment, these greedy little devils are wantonly using up our resources and defiling our environment with their luxurious lifestyles and corporate practices at warp speed.

IMO, a possible way to begin to solve this problem is for a critical mass of us to formulate and generally agree upon a viable plan, and begin a direct action consisting of a worldwide general strike/boycott, and then surrounding the offending members and enablers of the status quo with sheer numbers of resisters.
We then, as kindly as is possible, remove all of their apparati of control from them, and prevent them from doing any further harm.
The bottom line is, we the people are going to have to confiscate the factors and means of production, eliminate all vestiges of 1% media and media propaganda, and then implement an uncorruptible genuine working democracy, reorganize and restructure systems of resource allocation, and restructure and reorganize the factors and means of production in such a way that everyone is well provided for, and that our industries are as gentle on people and the environment as possible.

It is virtually impossible for economic globalization to ever serve humanity unless humanity evolves significantly. In addition, the SPLC has documented a powerful resurgence of the antigovernment “Patriot” movement, which in the 1990s led to a string of domestic terrorist plots, including the Oklahoma City bombing. The number of Patriot groups, including armed militias, grew by 755 percent in the first three years of the Obama administration – from 149 at the end of 2008 to 1,274 in 2011.

The productivity of U.S. workers grew in the second quarter at the fastest pace in almost six years as employers slashed payrolls to bolster profits.
Productivity, a measure of how much an employee produces for each hour worked, rose at an annual 6.4 percent pace, more than forecast, after a 0.3 percent gain the prior three months, Labor Department data showed today in Washington. Labor costs fell by the most in eight years.
The favorability ratings for labor unions remain at nearly their lowest level in a quarter century with 45% expressing a positive view. Yet the public expresses similar opinions about business corporations -- 47% have a favorable impression -- and this rating is also near a historic low.
Americans express mixed views of the impact of labor unions on salaries and working conditions, international competitiveness, job availability and productivity.
About half (53%) say unions have had a positive effect on the salaries and benefits of union workers, while just 17% say they have had a negative effect. Views are similar about the impact of unions on working conditions for all workers (51% positive, 17% negative).
The excerpt above shows that really, really stupid people have been brainwashed into believing that they should be paid less, with no benefits, and no labor representation, in order that we may have fewer jobs with more labor competition, and work ever harder, so that the multi-national corporations that sent their jobs overseas could make record profits.

It would not surprise me at all if, once they were back in Saudi Arabia and away from the prying eyes of the world, their fathers or uncles, or a cleric, or maybe some male friend of the family, locked them in a room and beat them for their brazen disobedience and the shame they have brought upon their family, religion, and country, for daring to engage in activities that should only be the privilege of men. A Leap Forward for Saudi Arabia
The US and Canada should offer blanket political asylum to the women and LGBT folks of Saudi Arabia's fascist "conservative kingdom".
I'm positive that the feminist and LGBT organizations of the world would, overnight, raise the money to provide transportation out of that misogynist patriarchal hellhole for any Saudi woman, female child, and LGBT person who desired to be free from that hateful place. An underground railroad could be established if necessary, like the one that freed slaves in the south, and sheltered and transported them north until they were safe and free.
Women in Saudi Arabia are universally subjected to extreme brainwashing from birth, so not all women would choose to leave right away because many suffer from institutionalized Stockholm Syndrome. It is unclear how many people have been executed for sodomy. Some of the official news reports on persons convicted of sodomy seem to provide conflicting opinions.
In 2000 the Saudi government reported that it had sentenced nine Saudi men to extensive prison terms with lashing for engaging in cross-dressing and homosexual relations.[3] That same year the government executed three Yemeni male workers for homosexuality and child molestation.[4]
In April 2005, the government convicted over a hundred men of homosexuality, but none were sentenced to be executed. All those men were given prison sentences with flogging because they were at a private party that was either a same-sex wedding ceremony or a birthday party.[5] Yet, not long after a gay foreign couple was sentenced to death for homosexuality and allegedly killing a man who was blackmailing them for homosexuality.
The Government of Saudi Arabia does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking and is not making significant efforts to do so. The government continues to lack adequate anti-trafficking laws, and, despite evidence of widespread trafficking abuses, did not report any criminal prosecutions, convictions, or prison sentences for trafficking crimes committed against foreign domestic workers. The government similarly did not take law enforcement action against trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation in Saudi Arabia, or take any steps to provide victims of sex trafficking with protection. The Saudi government also made no discernable effort to employ procedures to identify and refer victims to protective services.[1]
