Duncan Grant
Duncan Grant's JournalAgree. Violent gaslighting narcissist, imho.
Will Smith is an appalling liar. His actions were completely antithetical to his gaslighting Im a victim crap. There is no excuse for his behavior. None whatsoever.
This isn't about Chris Rock. It's about public assault.
Im not giving Will Smith a pass under any circumstances. He was violent. It was assault. Inexcusable behavior that - under any other circumstances - would result in an arrest. The last thing Will Smith is is a victim.
My sentiments exactly. It was violence and absolutely unacceptable.
Its stunning in the worst possible way and a horrible thing to witness. Will Smith should retire and disappear. Hes Mel Gibson as far as Im concerned. Unconscionable behavior. And the acceptance speech? Good god, like hes a victim? Total mind-f***.
Well, as long as it's not your ass or kids on the line, right?
Theyre criminalizing trans kids and their parents. Dehumanizing (othering) them like every fascist movement in history. Next theyre coming after gay marriage, visitation rights, wills and property, etc. Who knows whos next?
Seriously, checkout: https://transgenderlegal.org/
You can learn to make an affirmative argument for trans people and their lives.
As a voter, passively ignoring it all isn't working for me.
I expect the Democratic Party to deploy a national messaging strategy equal to the Lincoln Project. I expect some sort of official inquiry as attention getting as Trey Gowdy. Id like to think my party would be willing to raise holy hell in defense of its principles (and for Democracy itself). Sadly, were unable to mobilize this collective disgust with corruption and wrong doing because the team leadership continues to keep its power dry. Enough.
What you allow will continue.
I have jabbed and poked right-wing nut jobs for years about their lack of critical thinking skills. Obviously, they dont utilize their gray matter but here we are after the most atrocious administration in our history and whos left holding the bag? The Mercers? The Kochs? Trump? No. (Hmm, whos avoiding critical thinking now?)
Honestly, I am worn to a nub. Im that pencil whose ferrell has no eraser. Im tearing through paper now. If trump doesnt face an indictment or answer for his crimes in office, I think Ill just quietly walk away. Im gullible but Im not stupid.
Teenagers Unimpressed With Dave Chappelle at High School Homecoming
Teenagers Unimpressed With Dave Chappelle at High School HomecomingIts hard to know what Dave Chappelle expected when he made a surprise visit to his alma mater, the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C. That he had a documentary film crew with him, as reported by Politico, suggests he felt the assembled 580 students would greet him with unbridled enthusiasm. This was not the case.
The Ellington visit, which happened on Tuesday, began with a mix of cheers and some boos, according to Politico. It also included a Q&A session that got testy. One student called Chappelle a bigot and added, Im 16, and I think youre childish, you handled it like a child.
Chappelle reportedly responded to the 16-year-old by saying, my friend, with all due respect, I dont believe you could make one of the decisions I have to make on a given day. To a follow-up question described as antagonistic, the comic said, Im better than every instrumentalist, artist, no matter what art you do in this school, right now, Im better than all of you. Im sure that will change. Im sure youll be household names soon.
Chappelles spokesperson Carla Sims told Politico that he anticipated the students would greet him with forgiveness, but they failed to meet his expectations. She also said that Chappelle wanted to give them some space to grow and that they are going to say things that are immature.
The AIDS activism of the past still has lessons for us today
The AIDS activism of the past still has lessons for us todayThe 700-some-page tome is a bracing addition to an ongoing field of research and testimony on AIDS history, a corrective to previous accounts that have elevated some perspectives over others and latched onto only a handful of figures.
Based on nearly two decades of interviews with almost 200 members of the AIDS-fighting organization ACT UP (the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power), "Let the Record Show" functions as an oral history and a memoir. Schulman herself was a rank-and-file ACT UP member from 1987 until 1992, a period during which, as she puts it, "a despised group of people" came together to "force our country to change against its will."
The book is also a blueprint. In fact, its primary purpose, Schulman writes, "is not to look back with nostalgia, but rather to help contemporary and future activists learn from the past so that they can do more effective organizing in the present."
ACT UP was successful in part because it used a variety of creative, eye-popping direct-action efforts -- like the legendary Stop the Church demonstration -- to demand the attention of a society that was failing people with AIDS.
