WikiLeaks Declares War on The Intercept (LOL)

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange told The Daily Beast he holds reporters—not just the Trump administration—responsible for the arrest of a U.S. intelligence contractor charged with leaking classified information.

On Monday, the Justice Department said Reality Winner, a 25-year-old National Security Agency contractor, sent top secret information to a news outlet. The announcement came shortly after The Intercept published a series of NSA documents claiming that Russian hackers targeted a voting-software supplier and local election officials just prior to Election Day.

According to the affidavit, reporters for the unnamed news organization provided a copy of the printed NSA report to the agency in order to seek comment. The NSA claimed six people had printed out the report including Winner, who the agency said had been in contact with an unnamed news outlet.

WikiLeaks offered a $10,000 reward for information “leading to the public exposure & termination” of the reporter.

How many more times is Assange going to offer that "reward" he never has to pay out?

As Democrats prep for Comey, some on left want them to give up Russia story

Source: WaPo

After Saturdays March for Truth, where activists called for answers on whether Russia meddled in the 2016 election, Rep. Jamie B. Raskin (D-Md.) strolled offstage and straight into quicksand. Max Blumenthal, a dogged reporter working with the Baltimore-based Real News Network, brought Raskin on camera to ask what, exactly, Democrats wanted to know.

For four minutes, until the congressman was pulled away by a staffer, an award-winning journalist with bylines at the Nation and Salon asked whether hed been telling bellicose lies about Russia and the Trump team. Why arent we talking about jobs or racism? Blumenthal asked.

That question, which has occupied much of the political left since Hillary Clinton’s campaign first fingered Russia for a series of campaign hacks, has not gone away. This week, as former FBI director James B. Comey prepares to answer questions from the Senate Intelligence Committee, some prominent left voices warn that the party is wasting its time — or worse, that it is engaging in a new superpower slap-fight that will be used to further a hawkish agenda.

“We are in a new cold war with Russia that is totally unjustified given the facts,” said Dan Kovalik, a labor lawyer and author of “The Plot to Scapegoat Russia,” officially released Tuesday. “Putin was the first international leader to call Bush after 9/11 to offer us help. I don’t see them as this big enemy.”

Nobody wants to have a real discussion about it, but the political left will never get anywhere until it does something about these quislings smokescreening/concern trolling for Trump and Kremlingate...

Remember their names and the names of their allies well, because they WILL merrily kneecap Dems in '18 and '20 if we aren't vigilant.

Black Cameraman Says Maxine Waters Aint Shit While Caping for Racist Left-Wing Reporter

Yesterday, Michael Tracey, a “roving” reporter for The Young Turks, a progressive news show on YouTube with millions of subscribers, decided to come for “Auntie Maxine” Waters (D-CA) before he was ready. During the “March for Truth” in Los Angeles, Tracey and his cameraman Ty Bayliss approached Waters and asked her about the Democratic Party’s focus on RussiaGate as well as her previous support for a U.S. / Russian solution to the Syrian conflict under Obama. When Waters answered then dismissed further questions from Tracey, he went full SuperSaiyanWypipoBernieBro and posted the following on Twitter.

Tracey followed up with some epic concern trolling, repeatedly claiming the incident “wasn’t violent” but ratcheting up the conflict with words like “shove” and “push.” He threw in some racially coded words like “criminal” and “intemperate” just to make sure his dog whistle was in digital surround sound.

Once Tracey posted the “explosive” video of his encounter with Congressman Waters, most journalists were less than impressed.

A redemption story: Bold move rewarded as Takuma Sato wins Indy 500

INDIANAPOLIS –To some, he was Takuma the brave, Takuma the bold. But to others, he was Takuma the reckless.

Indianapolis 500 fans around the world took notice of Takuma Sato in 2012 after the Japanese driver made a daring yet ill-fated pass attempt to the inside of eventual winner Dario Franchitti on Turn 1 of the final lap of the race. When the passing maneuver failed, the world watched in incredulity as Sato went spinning into the wall.

Some said he threw away his best chance to win. Others credited him for the courage it took to take the chance.

At the end, though, he was the driver who risked it all and lost. That was his legacy, his chapter in the 500 chronicles. And it would be forever, unless he changed it.

On Sunday, that’s precisely what he did.

Sato erased that legacy and etched a new one in 500 lore by holding off three-time champion Helio Castroneves to win a chaotic and wreck-marred 101st running of the Indianapolis 500. He became Takuma, the champion.

“After 2012, I really need(ed) to correct something I left over,” a still somewhat shell-shocked Sato said during his post-race news conference. “Today I was so happy that I made it and won in a good move.”

And what a move it was. Floating around the top 10 since near the halfway point, Sato’s signature pass of the race came with 22 laps to go when he maneuvered around the outside of runner-up Castroneves and third-place finisher Ed Jones, setting himself up for triumph.

MEANWHILE, in Tokyo...

Lost: Struggling to cope with millions of unclaimed items in Tokyo

Among the millions of items that were registered with Tokyo’s lost and found center last year was an urn containing someone’s ashes.

And yet this should perhaps not surprise you — urns are handed in to lost and found centers more regularly than you might think. Last year alone, the Metropolitan Police Department’s lost and found center in Bunkyo Ward tried to reunite as many as 10 urns with their owners. In every case, relatives of the deceased refused to come and collect them.

Umbrellas are one of the most common items that accumulate at the center, so much so that a 660-square-meter room has been dedicated to storing them in the basement. The room wasn’t quite full as of late April but Shoji Okubo, head of the center, says that this situation will change once the rainy season starts in June.

Okubo says that roughly 3,000 umbrellas are found in Tokyo on a typical rainy day. In 2016, the metropolitan police handled a total of 381,135 umbrellas across the entire year.
Each umbrella is fitted with a tag that lists detailed information on when and where it was found. It is then stored according to the date it was handed in and the rail operators that logged it.

“It’s really hard for us to store items in a systematic way so that they can be found easily when a person comes in to claim something,” Okubo says.

Flash Gordon and The Hulk fight at Comic Con

It was a real-life battle of the superheroes at a comic fest over the weekend — when Hulk actor Lou Ferrigno got into a brawl with “Flash Gordon” star Sam Jones, and fans had to jump in and break them up.

“I don’t know if I was the real superhero, because if there was a clash of the Titans, I would have got squashed,” said Darryn Clements, who stepped in to help separate the musclebound actors at London’s ComicCon on Saturday, according to the Sun.

Clements and other grown men in the crowd who were dressed in superhero costumes actually had to tell the 6-foot-tall actors to grow up.

“There was a large crowd around, so I told them to act like adults and grow up, as they were supposed to be there for their fans,” Clements said. “I thought this has to be calmed down because if one hits the other, it would be chaos — they are absolute monsters.”

Ferrigno, who played the volatile superhero in the 1970s TV series “The Incredible Hulk,” did not comment to the paper. But Jones, who starred in the 1980 flick “Flash Gordon,” claimed that he and his fellow actor were just trying to stop a fight between fans.

A Buried Coup dtat in the United States

On November 10, 1898, a coup d’état took place on United States soil. It was perpetrated by a gang of white-supremacist Democrats in Wilmington, North Carolina, who were intent on reclaiming power from the recently elected, biracial Republican government, even if, as one of the leaders vowed, “we have to choke the Cape Fear River with carcasses.” They had a Colt machine gun capable of firing four hundred and twenty .23-calibre bullets a minute. They had the local élite and the press on their side. By the end of the day, they had killed somewhere between fourteen and sixty black men and banished twenty more, meanwhile forcing the mayor, the police chief, and the members of the board of aldermen to resign.

The new government remained in control, of both the town and the story. Subsequent generations of white residents knew about the events of 1898 as a “revolution” or a “race riot,” if they knew about them at all. In the black community, the episode remained a suppressed trauma. “It was just, like, something we talked about on the porch, like a folk thing, but it wasn’t really in the mainstream,” Christopher Everett, the director of “Wilmington on Fire,” a new documentary, said not long ago. Before Rosewood, before Tulsa, press materials for the film note, there was Wilmington—“a massacre kept secret for over one hundred years.”

Everett, who is thirty-three, was standing on Market Street in Wilmington, in front of a Greek Revival building that had served as an arsenal for the white conspirators. He had driven down from Laurinburg, North Carolina, where he was raised by his grandparents, a wire-plant worker and a nurse. In 2010, he was living in Atlanta, working in graphic design, when he saw a reference to the coup online. He got interested, and downloaded a report that the State of North Carolina had published several years earlier, to try, belatedly, to reckon with the legacy of the incident. That year, he was laid off. He moved back in with his grandparents, and put his unemployment money toward making the film.

“I was, like, a hundred pounds lighter then,” Everett said. “I had done some acting and modelling”—his first gig was a Japanese clothing commercial, starring Kate Moss—“so I had a network.” After three years, he ran out of money. An N.B.A. player who prefers to remain anonymous, having seen a clip that Everett posted on Facebook, gave him the fifteen thousand dollars he needed to finish. (The film will be available, via Amazon, on November 10th.) Squinting in the sun, Everett said, “It’s not just about history. A lot of the disparities that African-Americans are going through right now are the result of things like the Wilmington massacre. This was meticulously planned, but for years it was branded as something that just spontaneously happened.”

He faced the armory, where on the morning of November 10th a mob of several hundred white men had gathered with the intention of targeting the city’s considerable black middle class. “Then they walked to Manly’s spot,” he said. (Alexander Manly, the acknowledged descendant of a former North Carolina governor and a slave, was the proprietor of the Daily Record, in 1898 the city’s only black-owned newspaper.) “They went to burn down that joint, and, after that, they just dispersed to the Brooklyn neighborhood and started going wild.”

Okla. Man Fatally Shoots Man Who Was Attempting to Drown 3-Month-Old Twins

An Oklahoma man was shot and killed Friday as he was attempting to drown his infant twins in a bathtub, authorities say.

The deceased suspect, 27-year-old Leland Foster, apparently showed up at a house in Ada, Okla., where the babies’ mother, Foster’s estranged wife, Michelle Forrells, was staying and forced her and the twins into a bathroom, NBC News reports. Foster held Forrells at knifepoint and started attempting to drown the infants.

A 12-year-old girl who was in the house at the time ran out of the house for help and came into contact with Cash Freeman, a neighbor. Freeman grabbed his revolver, entered the home, saw Foster trying to kill the babies—a boy and a girl—and shot him twice in the back, Ada police spokesperson Lisa Bratcher told the network.

The babies were flown to an Oklahoma City hospital and later released, KFOR reports; they are said to be “doing great.”

KFOR spoke to Freeman off camera. Freeman told the network that he was just doing what he had to to save the babies, but expressed concern that he could be in trouble.

Ada police told the news station that Freeman was questioned and released, but it will be up to the district attorney to determine if it was a justified homicide.

“I’ve held the babies, and I’ve played with them, and I just gave them clothes,” Summer Pierce, another neighbor, told KFOR.
