Taboo topics in mainstream media for some reason.

Trump didn't bring up either one -- but just mentioning that "Bush was president on 9-11" gets somebody, somewhere very, very scared.

Why? Because asking that question leads to two other questions: "What did Bush know and when did he know it?"

Which lead to: "Why didn't Bush stop the attacks of September 11?"

You Think the NSA Is Bad? Meet Former CIA Director Allen Dulles.

David Talbot talks with Mother Jones about the book we talked about on DU in 2013:

You Think the NSA Is Bad? Meet Former CIA Director Allen Dulles.

In a new book, David Talbot makes the case that the CIA head under Eisenhower and Kennedy may have been a psychopath.

"What follows," David Talbot boasts in the prologue to his new book The Devil's Chessboard, "is an espionage adventure that is far more action-packed and momentous than any spy tale with which readers are familiar." Talbot, the founder of Salon.com and author of the Kennedy clan study Brothers, doesn't deal in subtlety in his biography of Allen Dulles, the CIA director under presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy, the younger brother of Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, and the architect of a secretive national security apparatus that functioned as essentially an autonomous branch of government. Talbot offers a portrait of a black-and-white Cold War-era world full of spy games and nuclear brinkmanship, in which everyone is either a good guy or a bad guy. Dulles—who deceived American elected leaders and overthrew foreign ones, who backed ex-Nazis and thwarted left-leaning democrats—falls firmly in the latter camp.

Mother Jones chatted with Talbot about the reporting that went into his 704-page doorstop, the controversy he invited with his discussion of Kennedy-assassination conspiracy theories, and the parallels he sees in today's government intelligence overreach.

MJ: Is that why you chose not to include much about Dulles' childhood or his internal strife or the other types of things that tend to dominate biographies?

DT: I focused on those elements that I thought were important to understanding him. I thought other books covered that ground fairly well before me. But what they left out was the interesting nuances and shadow aspects of Dulles's biography. I think that you can make a case, although I didn't explicitly say this in the book, for Allen Dulles being a psychopath.

They've done studies of people in power, and they all have to be, to some extent, on the spectrum. You have to be unfeeling to a certain extent to send people to their death in war and take the kind of actions that men and women in power routinely have to take. But with Dulles, I think he went to the next step. His own wife and mistress called him "the Shark." His favorite word was whether you were "useful" to him or not. And this went for people he was sleeping with or people he was manipulating in espionage or so on. He was the kind of man that could cold-bloodedly, again and again, send people to their death, including people he was familiar with and supposedly fond of.

There's a thread there between people like Dulles up through Dick Cheney and [Donald] Rumsfeld—who was sitting at Dulles's knee at one point. I was fascinated to find that correspondence between a young Congressman Rumsfeld and Allen Dulles, who he was looking to for wisdom and guidance as a young politician.

MJ: I'm interested to hear you mention Rumsfeld. Do you think the Bush years compared in ruthlessness or secrecy to what was going on under Dulles?

DT: Definitely. That same kind of dynamic was revived or in some ways expanded after 9/11 by the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld administration. Those guys very much were in keeping with the sort of Dulles ethic, that of complete ruthlessness. It's this feeling of unaccountability, that democratic sanctions and regulations don't make sense in today's ruthless world.

Guided missile destroyer kept Bush safe from bin Laden in July 2001.

Pretzeldent Smirko was attending the G-8 summit at Genoa. Instead of staying on land at a luxury hotel, the commandeer-n-thief chose to sleep aboard a guided missile destroyer. Why? He was warned by Putin that "Osama bin Laden" was planning to attack the conference with hijacked jetliners. Here's the article from July 2001:

Why would Osama bin Laden want to kill Dubya, his former business partner?

By James Hatfield

Editor's note: In light of last week's horrific events and the Bush administration's reaction to them, we are reprising the following from the last column Jim Hatfield wrote for Online Journal prior to his tragic death on July 18:

July 3, 2001—There may be fireworks in Genoa, Italy, this month, too.

A plot by Saudi master terrorist, Osama bin Laden, to assassinate Dubya during the July 20 economic summit of world leaders, was uncovered after dozens of suspected Islamic militants linked to bin Laden's international terror network were arrested in Frankfurt, Germany, and Milan, Italy, in April.

German intelligence services have stated that bin Laden is covertly financing neo-Nazi skinhead groups throughout Europe to launch another terrorist attack at a high-profile American target—his first since the bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen last October.

According to counter-terrorism experts quoted in Germany's largest newspaper, the attack on Dubya might be a James Bond-like aerial strike in the form of remote-controlled airplanes packed with plastic explosives.

Why would Osama bi Laden want to kill, Dubya, his former business partner?

John Ashcroft stopped flying commercial in July 2001.

Ashcroft Flying High

CBS News
WASHINGTON, July 26, 2001

Fishing rod in hand, Attorney General John Ashcroft left on a weekend trip to Missouri Thursday afternoon aboard a chartered government jet, reports CBS News Correspondent Jim Stewart.

In response to inquiries from CBS News over why Ashcroft was traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines, the Justice Department cited what it called a "threat assessment" by the FBI, and said Ashcroft has been advised to travel only by private jet for the remainder of his term.

"There was a threat assessment and there are guidelines. He is acting under the guidelines," an FBI spokesman said. Neither the FBI nor the Justice Department, however, would identify what the threat was, when it was detected or who made it.

A senior official at the CIA said he was unaware of specific threats against any Cabinet member, and Ashcroft himself, in a speech in California, seemed unsure of the nature of the threat.

"I don't do threat assessments myself and I rely on those whose responsibility it is in the law enforcement community, particularly the FBI. And I try to stay within the guidelines that they've suggested I should stay within for those purposes," Ashcroft said.

Asked if he knew anything about the threat or who might have made it, the attorney general replied, "Frankly, I don't. That's the answer."

My Q: If they obstructed justice in the context of the JFK assassination...

...Then, where and when else did they obstruct justice in the context of the JFK assassination?

We KNOW a lot of examples of where else they ostructed justice in matters of war and peace: Iran, Guatemala, Congo, Vietnam, Brazil, Indonesia, Iraq...

Regarding JFK, CIA is closely holding files of George Joannides, the company's man in New Orleans when the violent anti-Castro Cuban group DRE was rubbing elbows with Lee Harvey Oswald. Later, Mr. Joannides would help bury and stonewall the story as CIA's second and uncooperative liaison to the House Select Committee on Assassinations.

Prescott Bush wrote to Clover Dulles...

The news from Langley concerned a report by (the current?) CIA historian, David Robarge. He is the fellow who was trotted out before the cameras a few years' back to say the CIA wouldn't release part of its Bay of Pigs history, the part of the report written by Inspector General Lyman Kirkpatrick that apparently assigned responsibility for the Bay of Pigs fiasco to CIA ops guy Richard Bissell.

Background on the Bush connection from historian and political science guy Larry J. Sabato, author of "The Kennedy Half-Century: The Presidency, Assassination, and Lasting Legacy of John F. Kennedy," in April 1969, Prescott Bush wrote Clover Dulles:

I recall in the summer of 1961, after the ill-fated Bay of Pigs affair, you were away and we called Allen to come for supper, and he accepted. That afternoon he called and asked if he could bring a friend, and we said "surely." So he brought John McCone, whom we had known well, but had not thought of as a particular friend of Allen's. But Allen broke the ice promptly, and said, in good spirit, that he wanted us to meet his successor. The announcement came (the) next day. We tried to make a pleasant evening of it, but I was rather sick at heart, and angry too, for it was the Kennedys that brought about the fiasco. And here they were making Allen seem to be the goat, which he wasn't and did not deserve. I have never forgiven them. (Misspellings corrected here.)

CIA director withheld information about JFK assassination

By Shawn Price
UPI, Oct. 13, 2015

LANGLEY, Va., Oct. 13 (UPI) -- A declassified CIA report reveals former director John McCone withheld information to the Warren Commission investigating the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

A secret report written in 2013 by CIA historian David Robarge and declassified in fall of 2014, alleges McCone led a "benign cover up" that kept "incendiary" information about the CIA from the Warren Commission, the report said.

McCone's cover up was designed to keep the commission focused on "what the agency believed was the 'best truth' - that Lee Harvey Oswald, ... acted alone in killing John Kennedy," the report said.

SNIP...

Robarge told Politico, the agency had declassified the report "to highlight misconceptions about the CIA's connection to JFK's assassination." A common conspiracy theory is that the CIA was in some way behind the killing.

Hospital repeatedly gave coordinates to US and Afghan authorities.

The facts seem to show it was an intentional attack. The radio and video evidence will go a long way in determining guilt.

You know, after CIA torturers got off scot-free, they really don't have much to worry about. Who will hold them to account? The law? The press? MOCKINGBIRD? Congress? Don't make me laugh.
