Heres where to get gas, groceries when Irma is gone but the power is out

After the hurricane, where can you go to get gas?

Twelve years ago, Hurricane Wilma’s damage led to weeks of electrical outages and long lines at the gas pumps. When drivers learned that a gas station had power, they would wait in line for fuel, often leading to angry outbursts when the pumps ran dry.

This time, more convenience stores and gas stations are equipped with either generators or backup power supplies to run their equipment and Miami-Dade and Broward counties have compiled lists of where to go to find companies that have generator power.

<snip>

Here is a list of gas stations in Miami-Dade County that should have generator power after the storm. The list is arranged by ZIP codes:

Airlines cap prices for Hurricane Irma evacuees

Big airlines are slashing prices to help people flee Florida before Hurricane Irma hits.

JetBlue (JBLU) said Wednesday it's "offering any remaining seats in select markets" at reduced fares of between $99 and $159, including taxes.

American Airlines (AAL), which has a major hub in Miami, said it has capped the price of main cabin seats on single leg flights at $99.

Delta (DAL) announced it won't charge more than $399 for tickets on all flights to and from southern Florida and the Caribbean. That price cap will apply to all seats, including first class.

American said Wednesday that most of the flights out of the area were now sold out, but the company was working to add more. Delta said it had seats available, but it doesn't fly to many locations out of southern Florida.

All three companies say their price caps will be in effect through September 13.

Gasoline shortages, price hikes likely to ease by next week

Texas gasoline shortages and price hikes could ease next week now that most major Gulf Coast refineries are restarting after Hurricane Harvey, an industry analyst says.

The storm forced operations to stop at more than a dozen oil refineries that churn out nearly 25 percent of the nation's fuel supply. Now only four remain halted.

The returning refining capacity should help most gas stations restock within a week, said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy, adding that higher prices will linger.

Prices on average have risen by 40 cents a gallon in the Houston area and nearly 60 cents in Dallas since before Harvey made landfall Aug. 25 north of Corpus Christi.

The only major refineries still offline are Phillips 66 in Sweeny, Royal Dutch Shell in Deer Park, Exxon Mobil in Beaumont and Paris-based Total in Port Arthur.
