Comey ordered investigation into FBI leaks, based on Giuliani public statements.

COMEY: "Mid October, maybe a little bit later, Mr. Giuliani was making statements that appeared to be based on his knowledge of workings inside the FBI New York ... that gave me a general concern that we may have a leak problem ... and so I asked that it be investigated." P. 152

Source: BBC NEWS

One survivor has been rescued by Japanese search teams but the six others remain missing.

US media say the two planes crashed during mid-air refuelling but this has not been officially confirmed.

The Marine Corps tweeted that the incident occurred at about 02:00 on Thursday (17:00 GMT Wednesday).

There were five personnel on the C-130 and two on the F-18.

Update: One Marine was rescued and was "in fair condition", while another one "has been declared deceased", Marines officials said in a statement.

Note: Original BBC title was "Rescue mission in Japan after 'mishap' involving two Marine aircraft" but was edited 4 hours ago. Mishap was how the US Marines first described it in a tweet before fatality was confirmed.

The Most Feared Song in Jazz, Explained

John Coltrane, one of jazz history’s most revered saxophonists, released “Giant Steps” in 1959. It’s known across the jazz world as one of the most challenging compositions to improvise over for two reasons - it’s fast and it’s in three keys. Braxton Cook and Adam Neely give me a crash course in music theory to help me understand this notoriously difficult song, and I’m bringing you along for the ride. Even if you don’t understand a lick of music theory, you’ll likely walk away with an appreciation for this musical puzzle.

Re 41: For the next several days, we'll be reminded how those anti-Trump Rebublicans

we've loved seeing saying relatively reasonable things about the Mueller investigation, are really still contaminated with that same old repugnant Republican stuff we know and disfavor.

Still, 41 > 45.

People are more likely to believe #FakeNews if it comes with a photo.

https://twitter.com/10NewsFirst/status/1065480464498970624

People are more likely to believe something that isn't true if the claim is placed next to a loosely relevant photograph, new research shows.

Dr Eryn Newman, from ANU's Research School of Psychology, has been exploring how people determine truth in a fake-news era.

Newman found that people make the decision to trust information if it has pictures to illustrate the ideas -- but it doesn't even have to show your proof.

“It might be something like 'turtles are deaf' with a photograph of a turtle in the ocean."

Or ‘Nick Cave is alive’ or ‘Nick Cave is dead’ with the same photograph and it leads people to believe both claims in different experiments,” she said.
