No, I think she should pay for all of it.

"You break it, you bought it."

There should be as many charges as possible leveled at people who do this: public nuisance, public health danger, vandalism, and on and on. She's not the first to intentionally contaminate food this way. Heavy consequences might make the next sociopath in line think twice about it.

Thanks for posting this. It's all too easy to focus on the scary bits and miss the good news.

It's going to get worse in the US before it gets better, but it will get better. People are working on the problem and making headway in spite of the tangerine toddler. It's a balancing act keeping up with the news without getting overwhelmed, and it's important to look for the little patches of blue sky from time to time.

Should anyone really be thinking in terms of divide and conquer right now?

What's the difference between red state governments letting their constituents down and people from other states thinking that the federal government should let them down? ...because red states just deserve it, ya know.

Just in case it matters, and morally it really doesn't: there are thousands and even hundreds of thousands of Democrats living in those states. People are people. Right now, making up little dividing lines of who is on the good team and who is on the bad team only applies to those running the game. There's plenty of justified anger and frustration we can be aiming at trump* and his cronies without turning on our fellow citizens.

When we are all going down in the Titanic together, is labeling the deck chairs 'Us' and 'Them' such a useful way to pass time?

This is the can-do attitude we need.

I don't know that they can make anything like N95 masks, but whatever they can produce will be a damn sight better than, "you can wear a bandana." Good for Siriano and his team for stepping up!

I've got your criminal right here.

Where are the masks?

The shortage of personal protective equipment is particularly acute. Medical workers are supposed to be using N95 masks, which reduce their exposure by filtering out at least 95 percent of particles in the air. But on Wednesday, President Trump said his administration had ordered 500 million of these masks after receiving complaints about widespread shortages. To cope with the burgeoning coronavirus crisis, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told nurses to use bandanas and scarves as last-resort masks. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, meanwhile, have access to N95 masks as they apprehend immigrants during a national pandemic.

Trump Told Governors to Buy Own Virus Supplies, Then Outbid Them

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker told Trump during a video conference on Thursday that his state three times lost out to the federal government on purchases of critical supplies, creating an awkward moment during the made-for-TV event at Federal Emergency Management Agency headquarters in Washington.

“I’ve got a feeling that if someone has the chance to sell to you and to sell to me, I am going to lose on every one of those,” a sheepish-sounding Baker told Trump, who chuckled at the remark.

Answering questions and providing useful information isn't the point

of these pressers. He just wants time to be on stage and to be the center of attention. Anything other than positive strokes is not tolerated well, because he's there to stoke his ego. He is completely useless, and most of his administration is as incompetent as he is, often by design. Donald Trump has become a national security risk who poses a clear and present danger to the American people, and through the coronavirus pandemic he is willfully mishandling, also a clear and present danger the world.

He cannot remain in office. If the country wants to recover from this fiasco with some sort of intact economy and institutional infrastructure, he has got to go.

Jail time and public shaming. It's the only thing that will stop this kind of

arrogant, willful, dangerous behavior. Tony Spell has not only packed people together to infect one another, he's created a roving population that can send those germs far and wide beyond his church.

Charge him with homicide after the first congregants begin dropping like flies, then track those they infected and so on; add up the charges for every single one who dies. If that's the only way to get every evangelical idiot's attention and cooperation, so be it.

This man is as good as killing people and proudly announcing that he's done it. Make him pay.

Devastating, for everyone.

For the medical personnel who make it through this, the psychological toll is going to be enormous. The day Biden (and the competent administration he brings with him) can truly start addressing the crisis and binding the wounds of the country cannot come fast enough.
