Coronavirus May Be a Blood Vessel Disease, Which Explains Everything

In April, blood clots emerged as one of the many mysterious symptoms attributed to Covid-19, a disease that had initially been thought to largely affect the lungs in the form of pneumonia. Quickly after came reports of young people dying due to coronavirus-related strokes. Next it was Covid toes painful red or purple digits.

What do all of these symptoms have in common? An impairment in blood circulation. Add in the fact that 40% of deaths from Covid-19 are related to cardiovascular complications, and the disease starts to look like a vascular infection instead of a purely respiratory one.

Months into the pandemic, there is now a growing body of evidence to support the theory that the novel coronavirus can infect blood vessels, which could explain not only the high prevalence of blood clots, strokes, and heart attacks, but also provide an answer for the diverse set of head-to-toe symptoms that have emerged.

Excellent article which is still highly speculative, but which could very well point the way toward getting more of us to survive this disease. Not much medicalese, easy read.

AKA Jane Roe

The film just finished on FX and will be repeated right now for the west coast audience. If you didn't catch this yet, do watch it.

There were a few surprises on the way. I did remember how she was given the cold shoulder by the largely white suburban pro choice organizers because she was a rotten poster girl--poor, ignorant, dragged up rather than brought up, had her kids taken away due to drugs and alcohol, and so forth, not to mention she was also lesbian, something a lot of early mainstream feminists wanted swept under the rug.

What I didn't expect was a former right to lifer honcho who admitted that she was probably playing them for money, but that the antichoice people were playing her just as hard, that the long lasting conversion in this story seems to be her conversion of him.

She was a complicated person with a messy life. When the story broke last week, I read one poster's opinion that she belonged in hell for damaging the pro choice movement. I answered that I thought she'd already been there. This film proved me right.

She was one of us. She set the record straight before her death. RIP, Norma, you've earned it.

This is how you deal with Orange Blob, piss him off and laugh at him

This is from 4 years ago and is true now as it was then. Pelosi seems to have gotten the point, now we need it to spread around.

A Modest Proposal: Call this virus "THE HOAX."

It's short, it's catchy, it's easier than either Covid-19 or coronavirus, it's ironic enough to appeal to hipsters and non hipsters alike, and best of all, it reminds people about how well our government has been serving the people both before and after its appearance.

"I'm not coming in to work today, I have the Hoax."

"I don't think I'll be available on Friday, my throat is sore and it might be the Hoax."

"Please send an ambulance, I have the Hoax and I am very short of breath."

I think it could catch on very easily. Sing it loud, say it widely, call it the Hoax to make sure all the trails lead back to a callous and uncaring administration that did nothing to contain it.

C'mon, let's start something.

As of yesterday afternoon, the fatality rate was 3.1%, so don't pick out the casket just yet over Covid-19. Picking it out because of the massive ignorance of a bunch of businessmen trying to run government as a business, as you were.

Virologists Find Coronavirus Is 80% The Same as SARS, Which May Help Us Neutralise It

The new coronavirus spreading in China appears to be similar to SARS in two important ways: They share 80 percent of their genetic codes, and both originated in bats.
(snip)
"In essence, it's a version of SARS that spreads more easily but causes less damage," Ian Jones, a virologist at the University of Reading in the UK who was not affiliated with the study, said in a press release about the studies.

Those similarities offer a silver lining.

"This indicates that treatments and vaccines developed for SARS should work for the Wuhan virus," Jones added.

Slight caveat: a SARS vaccine was developed but not widely tested. However, that does give them a potential head start on this strain.

Takeaway: Bat should be permanently off the menu since they were also the reservoir for Ebola. Most species are beneficial, so it's doubly bad to use them as a foodstuff.

Coronavirus: Death toll climbs to 106 as China tightens measures

Source: BBC

The death toll from the new coronavirus now stands at 106, with the number of infections almost doubling in a day.

The number of total cases confirmed by China rose to 4,515 as of 27 January, up from 2,835 a day earlier.

Japan is sending a plane to Wuhan to evacuate its citizens, as efforts to repatriate foreign nationals from the city at the epicentre of the outbreak gather pace.

The virus has spread across China and to at least 16 countries globally. S

So far hysteria is outpacing the disease, but not by much. It's not looking good.

Check out new before & after nighttime satellite images of Puerto Rico

Millions of people in Puerto Rico remain without electricity in the wake of Hurricane Maria, a new image taken by a US government satellite shows.

Outside the capital city San Juan, residents are still isolated without power or communications, which could take weeks to restore.

Clean water and medicine are also scarce, locals report.
