jmowreader's JournalIf abortion candidates have to be "told what's in there," churchgoers should too
In the spirit of the "forced ultrasound" bills currently making their way through state legislatures across America, some fine upstanding liberal needs to enter a bill requiring churches to report to each of their registered parishioners, on at least an annual basis, the following:
the current assessed value of all real property, motor vehicles and other taxable capital goods the church owns
at the current rate of taxation for the location the church is in, the amount of taxes the church is exempt from because of its status as a church
and the number of dollars the parishioner's property and motor vehicle taxes are higher because the church's tax exemption has to be made up for somehow.
My good deed for the day
One of the minor things I do is to go over to the local community college on days when they're printing a campus newspaper and proofread it for them. They are grateful for this.
Today, we did three stories on the not-Romneys' most recent local appearances. We have a story about Paul's visit to Spokane that is titled:
Ron Paul visits Spokane
We have a story about Newt Gingrich entitled:
Newt Gingrich focuses on gas prices during speech
And we have a story about Rick Santorum that was titled:
Santorum fills hall
I got them to change that and now it's "Rally fills to capacity."
A couple of days ago there was a rather tasteless, insensitive thread...
something on the order of "if we were to literally eat the rich, who would you eat first?"
Andrew Breitbart belongs on the short list.
I don't think the AP likes Newtie very much
In the last three days of newspaper production, I've run two AP photos of Gingrich and two my own photographers shot and all four make him look either psychotic or dictatorial.
I think I have finally figured out Rick Santorum
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_as_a_hatterIn early England, hatmakers used mercury when making felt. Mercury absorbs through the skin and, when vaporized, can be absorbed, causing dementia over a period of time.
Santorum comes from a coal-mining state, Pennsylvania. Coal is a popular residential heating fuel there, but there's mercury in it which becomes a vapor when the coal is burned.
People are sensitive to mercury to various degrees. If Rick Santorum is exceptionally sensitive to mercury, and he grew up in a neighborhood where a lot of families had coal-fired heating systems, the mercury vapor in the coal smoke would have damaged him permanently.
Unfortunately for Mr. Santorum, the Americans with Disabilities Act only requires reasonable accommodations be made when integrating a disabled person into a job, and there's no reasonable accommodation that will allow a batshit crazy person to serve as president.
Boom!
