German spies made use of U.S. surveillance data
What's this, the US helped find kidnapped Germans?
BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany's foreign intelligence agency (BND) has known about U.S. surveillance and storage of German data for years and used it in cases of Germans kidnapped abroad, the mass-circulation daily Bild reported on Monday.
Questions over how much the German government and its own security agencies knew about U.S. surveillance have touched a raw nerve in Germany, given historical memories of spying on citizens by former communist East Germany and the Nazi regime.
The matter has also become an issue in Chancellor Angela Merkel's campaign for re-election to a third term in office and, although favored to win, she is keen to quash any impression that she knew more than she has let on.
Citing U.S. government sources, Bild said the BND had asked the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) for the email and telephone records of German citizens kidnapped in Yemen or Afghanistan to help ascertain their whereabouts and contacts.http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/thomson-reuters/130715/german-spies-made-use-us-surveillance-data-paper
Baltimore residents line up to get laptops in exchange for guns
"Think smart, not stupid. Think education, not guns."
Curtis Mason dropped off three small-caliber handguns at yesterdays Computers for Guns event and came away with a fresh Dell laptop and a sense of relief.
Masons 17-year-old nephew who lives in Baltimore had started to acquire handguns, so when the 55-year-old Towson resident heard on TV about the event, he realized he had a chance to help the boy hes been trying to mentor.
I was very concerned about these guns. What would happen from them? Would they fall into the wrong hands? Mason asked.
I told him You dont have to go down there. Ill handle the logistics, he recalled. I said Think smart, not stupid. Think education, not guns. I was shocked he didnt resist.http://www.baltimorebrew.com/2013/07/14/baltimore-residents-line-up-to-get-laptops-in-exchange-for-guns/

anti-Americanism is at an all time high in every corner of the world thanks to ES. If anyone thinks other countries don't do the same thing, you're delusional. American's without guns are not safe in America and Ed Snowden has made it so we are not safe anywhere - time to revert back to saying you're Canadian if you travel.
Vows To Rebuild Million Dollar Homes in Burnt Forest
Untold thousands of homes in Colorado's heavily populated Front Range are at risk for fires, said Gregory Simon, an assistant professor of geography who studies urban wildfires at the University of Colorado-Denver. Many are built on windy mountain roads or cul-de-sacs appealing to home buyers seeking privacy but often hampering efforts to stamp out fire. Residents in the outdoor-loving state are also attracted by the ability to hike from their backyards and have horses.
"Unfortunately, these environments give the appearance of being peaceful, tranquil and bucolic and natural. But they believe the reality that they are combustible, volatile and at times dangerous," Simon said.

Tony Blair calls for intervention after use of chemical weapons by President Bashar al-Assad and Hezbollah involvement
Tony Blair has waded into the debate over UK policy on the Syrian civil war, saying the Government should consider imposing a no-fly zone over Syria to prevent "catastrophic consequences."
The former prime minister and current peace envoy to the Middle East said there was a danger both sides will begin to use chemical weapons as an "acceptable form of warfare" if no action is taken.
In an interview with The Times, he said: "I feel very strongly we are in danger of a failure with catastrophic consequences if were not careful.
"This is no longer a civil war between factions within Syria. We should be taking a more interventionist line. Thats where I come from in politics. People can agree or disagree with it.
The two developments which he says have completely changed the game, for him are the revelation of Hezbollah's open involvement in the battle over Qusayr, and US and UK confirmation of the use of chemical weapons by President Bashar al-Assad.http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/syrian-civil-war-tony-blair-calls-for-intervention-after-use-of-chemical-weapons-by-president-bashar-alassad-and-hezbollah-involvement-8660114.html
