Tom Clements murder probe: Gunman was white supremacist parolee

A man who led Texas authorities on a wild chase and shootout on Thursday is now the focus of the investigation into the shooting death of Colorado prisons chief Tom Clements and a Denver pizza delivery driver.

Federal and state authorities, speaking on condition of anonymity, identified the man as Evan Spencer Ebel, 28, a parolee in the Denver metro area. The man was identified as a member of a white supremacist prison gang, the 211s.

Ebel has a criminal record dating back to 2003 including convictions for robbery, menacing, and weapons charges. In 2008 he was arrested for assault on a correctional officer
