Michael Cohen reportedly secured a $10 million deal to advance a nuclear project

Source: CNBC

Just days before federal agents raided Michael Cohen's home and office, Donald Trump's then-personal lawyer secured a $10 million agreement with a top donor, The Wall Street Journal reported citing people familiar with the matter.

The payment was conditional on Cohen securing funding for reactors at the Bellefonte Nuclear Power Plant in Alabama, sources told the Journal. That included a $5 billion loan from the federal government, the Journal reported.

Sources told the Journal that real-estate developer Franklin Haney also agreed to pay Cohen a monthly retainer. It reported that Haney's company still has a loan application pending at the Energy Department.

The newspaper said, however, it was not able to determine how much Haney ultimately paid Cohen, if at all. But sources told the Journal that Cohen's agreed success fee would be among the largest of his known consulting deals.

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - Tampa police divers recovered the body of a girl believed to be 4-years-old who was thrown into the Hillsborough River on Thursday.

According to Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan, police received a call about a woman who had possibly thrown a child into the river near Rome Avenue and Aileen Street.

The dive team responded immediately.

The body of the little girl was discovered 75 feet offshore around 4:30 p.m.

The apprehended woman is the child's mother. Incredibly disturbing.

Rep. Duncan Hunter's summer of discontent

On the House floor last week, Rep. Duncan Hunter packed a remarkable condemnation of the U.S. Department of Justice into a one-minute speech.

The law enforcement agency, he said, “is corrupt, answerable to no one and uses the law to extort the American people and effect political change.”

His criticism echoes President Donald Trump’s and is no less ironic: They both lash out at the federal agency — ostensibly under the control of the president — for its investigation into matters relating to the president. Significant, but not mentioned in Hunter’s speech, is that same agency has been investigating him for possible misuse of campaign funds, and maybe more, for at least a year and a half.

The Alpine Republican took the lectern on Thursday to endorse the move by fellow conservatives to impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. They contend Rosenstein has not cooperated with Congress by failing to produce all the documents requested. They also maintain he should have recused himself, because of a potential conflict, from overseeing the investigation being conducted by special counsel Robert Mueller. The special counsel is looking into possible coordination between the Russian government and Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, among other things.

Attacking the federal agency investigating you seems to be a common corrupt Republican trait.
