Aristus
Aristus's JournalCaligula declared war on the god Neptune.
According to Suetonius in his The Lives Of The Caesars.
Caligula was angry with Neptune, for reasons I won't go into but are suitably unhinged.
Caligula marched his legions to the shore at the English Channel, and told them to charge. He ordered them to cast their spears into the waves, and slash at the breakers with their swords.
Once he decided Neptune had been punished enough, he ordered his legionaries to plunder and loot King Neptune. The plunder was seashells the Roman soldiers collected in their helmets.
Suetonius wrote sadly about how the proud Roman legions had been reduced to clowning for a madman.
Modern historians have asserted that this story was an exaggeration, or an outright fabrication on the part of Suetonius.
But I believe there may be a great deal of truth to it...
Wow. Trump's in debt to the Russian mob, and he can't pay. No wonder he's terrified of Election Day.
First he loses the election. Then he loses LIMBS!
After months of responding to posts with "He's NEVER going to resign!",
I'm starting to turn around on the possibility.
If he waits until Inauguration Day, there will be agents posted in every major airport on the Eastern Seaboard. They'll have him in custody before you can blink.
Right now, he has the advantage of time to prepare a skedaddle to a country with no U.S. extradition treaty. He could be spirited away in the night with relative ease.
I wonder if that has occurred to him yet...
Whew! Just excised the largest skin nodule I've ever seen.
I'm pretty sure it's a superficial hemangioma, but we'll see what pathology has to say.
Thing was huge! Looked like a very large marble. It would barely fit into the specimen container.
It was large enough that I thought it had developed its own arterial system. I kept a hemostat clamped to the base of it while I sliced it off, just in case. When I loosened the hemostat, no arterial spurt. Good news.
That was a nail-biter!
Can't wait to see the biopsy report!
Will Trump's donors keep feeding the beast? Or snap the checkbooks shut for a lost cause?
I'm not saying it is a lost cause.
Get out the vote!
But if there's one thing rich people demand, it's value for money...
I just donated to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
I was hoping there would be a block in which to enter a note.
I would have dedicated my donation to the memory of Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
SOPH0571: We haven't forgotten you, dearest...
IN MEMORIAM:
Friday Night Wine-Buzz, Ruth Bader Ginsberg Memorial thread.
We loved you, RBG. We will not see your like again...
