What's a guy got to do to get arrested on this site?
Friday Night Beer and Whiskey Buzz...
First half of the week: horrible.
Second half: wonderful.
Today was a glorious reminder of why I got in to medicine. And as burned out as I am, I'm so happy I do what I do.
I love my patients...
Okay, the booze is talking...
but only a little...
The rest is me...
I just viewed the video of the father of Captain Kahn rebuking Donald Trump.
I made it through all of the other speeches just fine. Joe Biden, Tim Kaine, Michelle Obama, Bill Clinton, President Obama, and Hillary Clinton's acceptance speech (which, unlike all of the others, I managed to see live...)
But halfway through Mr. Kahn's speech, I broke down and cried.
It was too much...
We've lost so much to Republican treachery and ineptitude. We've had eight years to try and make it better, and we have. But there's so much more to do. We can't afford to give the Republicans another chance to ruin this country.
Mr. Kahn's speech left me speechless...
Okay, there's the second black President.
Corey Booker.
Unless the second black President is a woman. That would be cool, too...
"Stormtrumpers" Please tell me this appellation for Trump supporters is original with me.
That would be so cool if I coined it...
Friday Night Wine-Buzz. Chianti. I should drink Beaujolais in honor of Nice.
But I don't have any.
The world completely sucks right now...
Shit. It has started. The other day, a patient brought a gun in to the clinic.
Waved it in the face of a colleague, and then demanded narcotic medication.
He was told to leave the weapon in his car, and he pulled the usual "I got my rights" horseshit.
Nobody got hurt this time...
Goddamn fucking gun owners...
No edition of William Shakespeare's Thought For The Day today.
I'm so outraged by the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philandro Castile, that the only images I felt compelled to use in my post were alarmingly graphic. As I prepared to press 'Post My Thread!', I realized that the images could be considered highly-disrespectful violence porn. I couldn't bring myself to go through with it.
I know we're all anguished about this, and the subsequent events in Dallas. And while deploring the murder of cops is a worthy reaction, I'm choosing to perpetuate the memory of Sterling and Castile. Will and I are taking a break this weekend. I hope we'll be back on track soon.
