Aristus
Aristus's JournalEnjoying a Scotch Sangaree tonight.
Scotch, port, Drambui, and a sprinkling of nutmeg.
Delicious.
How is everyones holiday weekend going?
Friday Night Whiskey Buzz. Ask me anything.
Enjoying a Rusty Nail tonight. Scotch and Drambuie. Had an extra shot of scotch to get the party started. Now just getting settled in for the holiday weekend.
I love you all
The pros and cons of getting settled into my new job.
I'm in the float pool, which means I go to whichever clinic needs help that day. I don't have a permanent provider slot yet.
Twice in the last couple of days, I've had new patients ask me to be their primary care provider. It's gratifying knowing that I'm earning their trust. I've had to let them down, telling them I don't have a fixed assignment yet.
After leaving my well-loved patient population after thirteen years, it's nice to know I have new patients who will want to follow-up with me.
Yesterday, the MA on my team is one with whom I've worked before at my old employer. (Yes, she too had to leave that madhouse...) She still keeps up the pace from our old job. She roomed our patients quickly and efficiently. Had a good day.
At my old job, my office window looked out over the Safeway across the street.
The office where I'm working today at my new job, looks out over northwestern Tacoma. On a clear day, I've got a view of Mount Rainier.
I'm not in this office every day. But it's an improvement over my old one.
Enjoying a Prince Edward tonight.
A nice, dry little cocktail to counter the sweetness of last nights selection.
Whiskey, Lille Blanc, and Drambui. Just bought my first bottle of Drambui today, and I thought Id take it for a test drive.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
Saw an open-carry shitbird at the grocery store today.
Open-carry assholes are a pretty rare sight around here, in the light-pink suburbs of blue Tacoma.
This fucknozzle ticked all the boxes; three hundred pounds on the hoof, tee shirt and cargo shorts, scraggly, gingery douchebeard, and a practiced scowl that indicated he was not looking for trouble, but likely hoping for it.
He had what looked like a Glock holstered to his hip. He undoubtedly thought it made him look like a latter-day Wyatt Earp. When all it did was make him look like a pathetic loser cosplaying a tough guy.
These festering, ambulatory lumps of defective human protoplasm are a plague on our nation.
Friday Night Brandy Buzz. Ask me anything.
Two shots of Suntori whiskey to get the party started. Now a Panama: brandy, white créme de cacao, and cream.
Its basically a Brandy Alexander, but if you use white créme de cacao instead of brown, you can call it a Panama, and avoid the teasing.
Needed something sweet to celebrate the sweetness of not being with my old employer anymore.
Thank you for being here for me when I wasnt able to be here for you.
I love you all
Tomorrow in The Lounge: Friday Night Drinking Thread.
Topic to drink to: I no longer dread going to work.
Looking forward to the weekend.
I love you all
I knew I was going to see some of my old colleagues at my new job. But it's even better!
These last three weeks have been hectic, stressful, and gratifying. Im working at a much slower, more relaxed pace than at my old job.
Meeting up with a lot of my old colleagues, and providers with whom I worked when I was a Medical Assistant. Its been such fun.
But I had an especially wonderful surprise in store. Back in the day, when I was a Medical Assistant, there was a guy who worked the front desk at one of the clinics I rotated through. He and I got along famously, and had a lot of fun on the job. He was a great guy.
I ran into him my second week at my new job. Just like me, he went to school to further his career. I became a Physician Assistant. But he went to Medical School! Graduated as a DO, which is a step above MD! Im so proud of him. But not the least bit surprised by his success. Im hoping Ill get to work at his clinic every once in a while so we can catch up and work together again.
Anyway, while I miss my homeless patients, Im much happier in my new work atmosphere.
Friday Night Vodka Buzz. Ask me anything.
A couple of shots to get the party started. Now Im enjoying a Nutty Irishman: Irish Cream and Frangelico. End of my first week visiting with patients. I pretty much have the new electronic records system figured out.
The pace is less stressful, and nobody at the new clinic looks like they wish they were somewhere else.
Im loving my new job. But I really hope some of my homeless patients come in to see me soon, because I sure do miss them.
I love you all. Got a new laptop, so I can start hanging out again more often.
