Perhaps they noticed how the onetime opponent stood up and partnered with the first president who actually looked like them, and not only willingly but eagerly embraced the role of Tonto to President Obamas Lone Ranger.
Joe became a ready and honestly enthusiastic supporter and friend who won Obamas trust. It shouldnt be surprising that African Americans might have picked up on that. Hes likely earned THEIR trust as a result.
And the only way they win, anymore, is when THEY cheat...
and WE wimp out and stay home and dont vote.
What A Great Thread!
Ive thought sooooooo many of these same thoughts, wondering in the end if Planet Earth and the other life forms on it would all be better off without us.
Unfortunately we can't "just settle this at the next election."
Not when the Russians are still lurking nearby, and up to no good.
I wish he were right. But I think were being naive to trust the solution to the next election.
I'm seriously starting to lean that way.
Biden/Harris. Or Biden/Warren.
Sadly, Im more convinced than ever that a woman president will be the last non-white-male glass ceiling to break. Id expect a Latino, a gay (man), even a Muslim President to happen first. The bad guys dragging the anti-choice assault back into the center ring of this freakin circus has really grabbed my attention and convince me this might actually be the dynamic in play now.
Just look whats happened lately. The continuing persecution of Hillary Clinton. The attacks on a womans right to choose. The brutal attempts by largely middle-aged white men to assert supremacy by force if necessary. It was a woman who was the sole casualty in Charlottesville. More of the attempted legal assaults on a womans privacy and sovereignty over HER body are male-driven. Yes a female governor signed the Alabama Monstrosity into law but a wall of white men, 25 men in that states legislature, voted it into her desk.
I think the women protesting about what theyre calling a war on women are spot-on. As a woman I feel an ongoing gnawing in my mind about this. I feel almost literally under siege.
A deal? To beat the rap if he agrees to resign, maybe?
I still feel as though he might try to sneak away under the cover of darkness during the wee hours of some morning. Hes not the kind to stay and bravely take his lumps. Hes a freakin baloney-spewing coward! With a side of Liar and Traitor to go.
I was an art major in college. I wouldn't pay 80 dollars for that.
Yeah its a Jeff Koons. But sheesh, 80 million dollars? I think were talking about an 80-million-dollar show-off. Im so rich, look how much I can drop at an art auction and not even flinch. How bout YOU?
Now if youre buying the Pieta or Mt Rushmore, okay, 80 million. Sounds a little more fitting. A Michelangelo or da Vinci would be worth 80 million or more. But THIS? Fuck. This is just ego flaunting itself.
And let me just add - imagine what that 80 mill could do in even just ONE of our big cities with a poor and homeless population. Maybe one near the southern border - where theres so much desperate need?
Or what could that 80 mill do in one of those Central American countries from which these refugees are trying so desperately to escape? How might an 80-million-dollar infusion in even ONE of those countries help improve economic conditions and beat down the crime and the gangs and threats to families - so those poor people wouldnt have to make that dangerous 2,000-mile trek up to the US?
You could do a LOT with 80 mill that would benefit many who genuinely need help rather than massage the ego of a shriveled-up old coot with big bucks, who I guess must be desperate to prop up some semblance of power and virility within his aging, equally shriveled-up ego. I guess when you can no longer stand to look at yourself in the mirror, and youve got big bucks, you go for as much validation as you can buy.
