EV, PHEV, and Hybrid Car Owners Check-in

How do you like your car?

I have been driving my 2011 Volt for a month now and absolutely love it. Our other family car is a 2013 Prius, but for driving enjoyment you really can't compare the two.

My Volt is #2512

Time to Stop Blaming Trump

Ultimately, he is what he is. It's awful, but he is genuinely who he is.

Instead, it's time to focus on those people who enabled him and who ultimately support most of his views and policies: the Republican Party.

The problem is not that all Republicans think the way this guy does. The problem is that they’ve been riding this tiger for a long time. They’ve been feeding their base all kinds of crazy for years, primarily for political expedience … -Pres. Election Predictions- Make Yours Here

Then, let's check this thread on Nov. 9.

Yes, yes, work hard to GOTV, don't take things for granted... BIGLY

But hey, we are all political junkies here... let's have some free-form prognostication.

Here are my predictions:

Clinton 52%- Trump 39%, However, she will hover near 50% most of the night, but the electoral blowout will be apparent. The only question is over/under 400 electoral votes. Electoral vote= 361-173

Dems take control of the Senate.
Dems take control of the House by 1-5 seats.

Rubio and McCain are retired from the Senate.
Trump congratulates Clinton, but doesn't concede the election and vows to fight on with his new media company (which will fold before the next Presidential election in 2020).

It's Not About Clinton's Health, It's a Sexist Dog Whistle

The modern version of this in America has its roots in the Puritan (protestant) history of this country. Oddly enough, Darwinian theorists in the 19th and 20th Century as pointed the 'evolutionary' function of women being weak (i.e. natural selection for this).

So yes, it is both religious and has its origin in creepy eugenics movement thinking. So yeah Trump should stop. IT's also the reason why he won't stop talking about it.

Bi-Partisan Tax Proposal: Make Olympic Awards non-taxable...

Granted some athletes will make millions off of the games. However, what about those medalists in obscure sports?

Should they be burdened with thousands of extra in income tax because they won a medal for their country?

Time for an exemption...

Olympic athletes who bring home medals also bring home cash — $25,000 for gold, $15,000 for silver and $10,000 for bronze — paid for by the United States Olympic Committee. Like any prize winner, from a jackpot hitter to a Nobel Prize recipient, the athletes are taxed because Olympic medals and cash bonuses are considered income, said Steven Gill, associate professor of accounting at San Diego State University... http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/personalfinance/2016/08/15/olympics-victory-tax-gold-medal/88587636/

Trump's Acceptance Speech Tonight is a Full-Blown Jeremiad

Rhetorically speaking anyway. It also bashes immigrants and has enough racial dog whistles to put Fido down.

The jeremiad is a rhetorical tradition—a literary genre, even—that has appeared in every phase of America’s history—from King Philips War to Hurricane Katrina.[2] But the place to begin is Puritan New England. That’s where the jeremiad got its American stamp, where it was most commonly applied and most fully developed.

Most Puritan jeremiads were preached not during regular corporate worship but on special occasions appointed by the government. There were sermons delivered on election days. There were artillery sermons on days set for review of the colonial militia. There were thanksgiving sermons on days celebrating great blessings. But the jeremiad was most at home on days of colony-wide fasting in response to some crisis... But the jeremiads did not end in despair. The third element was a call for repentance and renewal, backed by a promise that God would not forsake them if they returned to him.... https://9marks.org/article/the-american-jeremiad-a-bit-of-perspective-on-the-rhetoric-of-decline/

Pokemon Go! Servers are Down

Pokémon Go servers crashed across Europe and the US on Saturday, as global demand for the hit mobile app soared in its first weekend since being launched in the UK.

Players in 26 countries took advantage of mostly good weather to venture outdoors to hunt and capture their first Pokémon creatures, with millions having downloaded the game in its first days since release... https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/jul/16/pokemon-go-server-crash-niantic-europe-us?CMP=share_btn_fb

Beginning to Think the Coup in Turkey was a False Flag Event

an event designed to leave Erdogan in absolute control. Now he has free hand to eliminate and Gulen and Kemalists in the officer Corps if he wants.

Maybe I'm channeling Alex Jones, but this smells an awful lot like a 'real' event.

Sen. Corker and Sen. Ernst Drop Out of VP Chase

It's very telling that after one interview with Donald Trump, Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) dropped out of consideration. For all of his conservatism, Corker at least isn't an idiot (unlike so many Repug Senators). https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/07/06/corker-withdraws-as-potential-trump-running-mate/

Sen. Ernst (R-IA) also just removed herself from consideration. This is also significant as she is a wholly owned subsidiary of Koch Industries. This essentially means that the Kochs don't want to go anywhere near Donald Trump. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/joni-ernst-trump-vice-president-225169

We live in interesting times.
