It couldn't end any other way. It was always going to be a

waste - for the country. Though I mean it in the lay waste kind of way.

Trump is destruction. His very nature. His character. His very being.

Trump has no guiding principles. He has no strong beliefs.

Other than Trump. Other than himself. He is his own and only reason for everything he does. What he can get out of it. How it benefits him.

Trump, his conservative support from high profile names, as well as his sycophantic followers are parts of a symbiotic whole. Through mutualism, each part benefits in some way, though the followers are more like the effluvium by-product of the other two.

Trump courts them but he would never allow them inside his home.

The conservative power brokers/rightwing religious money movers/thought shapers need their votes but they don't want them coming into their homes either.

Both Trump and the conservative power base feed the clamoring crowd their much craved sugar water of absolution. Absolving both the conservative collective and the individual of responsibility for economic and social deprivations by placing the blame on the other.

With appeals to prejudice and fear that keep people ignorant, that keeps them cheering their own oppression,
Trump and the Republican power structure perform a neverending sleight of hand - constant deceptions.

Convincing them that three and four jobs is patriotic and that America has the best health care in the world, even if they don't have access to it. The important thing is getting to chant "We're number 1" until that good feeling takes hold.

Deception after deception, chewing their supporters up until nothing is left of them but pavlovian responses.

This is what we are up against. Fellow citizens who have been conditioned to accept any brutality, any atrocity, to believe any absurdity as long as they get to feel good about themselves.

lol Some people slay me. They only know about one speech

by MLK, Jr and they act as if that shows how enlightened they are and how they couldn't possibly be racist if they know about his "I have a dream" speech.

Even then they only pull certain excerpts from that one particular speech, and not because they admired King or even understood all he was talking about. No, they do it because most of the speech lays bare some ugly truths about America that still apply today.

It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro’s legitimate discontent (Yes) will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality.

...

And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. [enthusiastic applause] There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

A lot of white people attempting to beat people of color over the head with King's words of peaceful protest primarily do so in an attempt to silence people of color. Be angry, they're saying. But do it nicely. Show it in a way that doesn't offend us. Voice your anger and pain in a white people approved way.

Trump attacked peaceful protesters and he wasn't the only one judging from all the footage of police attacking other peaceful protesters.

A black man was mocked, scorned, and threatened with death for kneeling in a peaceful protest.

Peaceful protests get attacked.

Angry protests get attacked.

It doesn't matter how people of color protest - they will be attacked.

It's not the protesting these white folks are objecting to - it's the people doing the protesting that offends them. It's the color of the skin that makes all the difference.

Armed white people can storm capitol buildings and cops don't blink an eye - and Trump calls them good people. Responsible people.

Nazis and assorted other white supremacists can attack people, even commit murder, and Trump claims they are very fine people and then blames the victims.

McEnany thinks she scored a point. The only thing she did was show how pointedly dismissive this administration is of people of color.

I've taken to saying President Biden. Not VP Biden.

Not Joe Biden. Not former VP Biden.

President Biden.

In emails. On the phone. Face to face conversations. At home talking with my husband. When referring to him for any reason - President Joe Biden.

President Joe Biden talking with protesters.

President Biden talked with Mr. Philonise Floyd.

President Biden to attend the funeral of George Floyd.

When anyone says, "He's not President yet".

I reply, "You see anyone else behaving like a President?"

It's a small gesture. Maybe even a meaningless one. But people can already see a clear difference in the response to the killing of George Floyd. They see the difference in the response to the protests. They're struggling under Trump's response to the pandemic. They've witnessed the last three and a half years. They've felt each of those days.

Let them hear the difference. Let them read the difference. When you post to Facebook. When you tweet. Anywhere you share on social media. When talking to people. Say it outloud to yourself.

President Biden.

President Biden.

President Joe Biden.

President Biden has already assumed the role. He is already bridging the chasm caused by Trump's inability to see the world beyond his own ego.

America is without a president in the White House. But America is not without a President.

President Biden said this.
President Biden said that.
President Biden did this.
President Biden did that.

He's already acting like a president.

Come November, let's make it official.

Delusional Donnie puffs out his chest, stomps about,

gesticulating wildly with his tiny little hands, checking himself in the mirror and nodding approvingly at the larger than life figure his encephalopathic brain tells him he sees.

Working himself up into a televangelistic fever pitch until red blotches breach the armor of orange he wears as a shield against the glaringly obvious chyrons of a life lived in vacuous repose scroll across his bloated face.

"I alone!", he bellows.

"I Alone!", he roars.

"I accept no responsibility", he intones.

I know you are but what am I?, he ends.
