kentuck's JournalShould there be a bi-cameral, bi-partisan meeting between the Democratic and Republican leaders?
The meeting could be called by either Party in the name of "National Security".
Each Party should address their concerns to the Committee of the Whole?
This is a matter of the highest importance.
Is there no one to facilitate such a request?
TRUMP IS A DIVIDER
That's all people need to know.
I believe the people can figure it out from there.
(This would assume that most people would not believe that it was good for us or our country to have our people divided?)
Perhaps a small percentage of people would be OK with dividing our country and creating tensions between different groups?
UNITED WE STAND - DIVIDED WE FALL
The people have to decide what type of US Citizen they choose to be?
Most Americans believe that "something needs to be done" about assault weapons.
It's easy for Republicans to criticize Beto O'Rourke for his comments about "taking their AK-47s and AR-15s", but it is a serious matter for many Americans.
In fact, there are polls that show the majority of Americans believe "something needs to be done" about these military assault weapons on our street.
The freedom of the right to bear arms must balance the freedom of the people to move about freely without fear or intimidation from these types of weapons.
So, it is not a black and white question for the majority of Americans.
Politically, it is not an issue that is politically favorable for Republicans. Beto O'Rourke said what a lot of people believe needs to be done.
Although there were some media folks that said this would give the Republicans an "issues" for years to come, that is hardly true, according to recent polls. The Democrats should not be fearful of debating this issue.
If I could make a political suggestion...?
The Democrats must be united to win.
I've heard there are only seven more debates?
And that's just the Democrats. The Republicans have none scheduled.
Is it really beneficial for the Democrats to debate each other about the issues? Such as guns and health care? When all the Republicans have to do is sit back and criticize. For some reason, that hardly seems fair?
The Republicans are getting no pressure from any of the networks to sponsor any Republican debates? At least, none that I have heard of? They can sit back and watch the Democrats debate. Last I heard, Trump had three Republican opponents. Where are their debates? That's the ones I want to see.
Let me off at the next stop...
The weight of history is upon those Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee.
It would be easy to do what much of the rest of Congress is doing - nothing. But they have a duty of oversight. It is part of their job to protect the judicial process in this country.
What makes their job so difficult is that they are obstructed at every turn. At least, they have been up to this point. Will the White House order Corey Lewandowski to defy the subpoena for Tuesday? Could they hold Lewandoski in contempt of Congress? Could they add another obstruction charge against Donald J Trump if they file Articles of Impeachment?
The country has entrusted the Committee to defend our Constitution and the rule of law in this country.
I do believe, it is an historic time we are going thru.
What did you think of Beto O'Rourke's idea of confiscating AK-47s and AR-15s?
I admired his passion. I think he may have touched a nerve with the voting public?
But, many people are uncomfortable with the word "confiscate". I think the questioner may have set him up with that terminology. It was the wrong word to use, in my opinion.
However, the fact remains. We need to get AK-47s and AR-15s off our streets and out of the hands of dangerous people. They are weapons of war.
We need to ban the sale of these types of weapons, I would agree. If anyone is caught carrying one in the public square, they should lose that weapon immediately. There might be a process for them to get it back but it should be very difficult. This would be a prime instance where the government would likely offer a "buyback", in my opinion.
I was impressed with Beto.

Trump wanted Lewandowski to deliver a message to Jeff Sessions...
http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/04/trump-told-lewandowski-to-do-his-dirty-work-thwart-mueller.html<snip>
He then asked Lewandowski to deliver a message to Sessions. The attorney general, Trump told Lewandowski, should give a speech saying the following:
I know that I recused myself from certain things having to do with specific areas. But our POTUS is being treated very unfairly. He shouldnt have a Special Prosecutor/Counsel b/c he hasnt done anything wrong. I was on the campaign w/ him for nine months, there were no Russians involved with him. I know it for a fact b/c I was there. He didnt do anything wrong except he ran the greatest campaign in American history.
I thought some of the "journalists" in last night's debate, were trying to ask "gotcha" questions...
In one instance, one of the reporters asked Joe Biden a question about something that he had said 40 years ago. It may have been relevant, but I sort of think that if you have gone 40 years without repeating the mistake, it might be time to let it go?
Even on CNN and MSNBC this morning, they are still playing and talking about the "gotcha" moments.
My main criticism of the debate last night was the way some of the reporters would interrupt the candidate right in the middle of her most important response of the night. Don't invite them to a debate and then shut them down when responding to a question.
Whichever candidates emerge from this debate, should be aware not to play the Republican and the media game of attacking each other, while Donald Trump is permitted to attack anyone he wants.
People know where the Democrats stand on the issues. They know where Donald Trump stands. That is what the next debate should be about, in my opinion.
