What's the possible downside to "not impeaching"?

Will it inspire more Democrats to go to the polls? Or will many Democrats sit out the next election because Democrats look weak and indecisive?

Would Trump supporters see the failure of Democrats to impeach as validation of their support for Donald Trump?

Would Trump say that he has been proven innocent of all the charges because the Democrats would have impeached if they had any proof of crimes or wrong-doing?

Would the majority of Americans believe it was a "witch hunt" and a "hoax"?

Would they say that the Democrats did not even have enough evidence for an "impeachment inquiry", let alone an impeachment proceeding?

For those that believe it is a lot safer for Democrats in the next election if they do not impeach, that may not necessarily be true?

It may be more precarious for the Democrats to not impeach than to impeach?

Whatever they decide to do, they had better be ready to defend their decision.

All Along The Watchtower

Democrats should rely on the American people - not the Republican Party.

Especially not the Republican Party in Washington.

If it became necessary for them to impeach Mr Trump, there is little to none likelihood that the Republicans in the US Senate would hold him accountable.

Therefore, if Mr Trump defies an order from the Court, if he continues to block all subpoenas that go to present or former staff members, if he continues to show contempt for the Congress, Democrats would have little choice but to impeach him. But without any support from the Republicans in the Congress or the Senate.

In that circumstance, Democrats would have to make their case to the American people. They would need to inform the people why they are impeaching Donald Trump and why they are doing it without Republican support.

But the bottom-line facts are that it is the job of the Congress to hold the President accountable for wrongdoing, and for high crimes and misdemeanors. Democrats do not have the option of sweeping it under the rug and remaining a viable national Party, in my opinion.

This is not a game. It is not the Cowboys vs the Redskins. It is America vs Russia. Democrats have no choice but to protect America from enemies, both foreign and domestic. They took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution. It is not something they are itching to do. It is something they must do if the White House continues to obstruct the Congress. They do not have the option of waiting until the next election.

If it reaches the point where Democrats feel they must impeach, they must begin to educate the American people about why they are doing it? If they do their job well, the voters will hold the Republicans accountable in the next election.

In my opinion, that may be the only option left them.

"Democrats are trying to play race card against great African-American communities

Trump now says..

A day after making his disgusting, racist comments about Elijah Cummings and the city of Baltimore.

He always tries to walk back his sick and divisive comments, when he realizes they aren't working like he planned.

A message from the Democrats to the Republicans and the Mainstream Media:

No, there is no expiration date on when Congress must stop looking at impeachable offenses.

Obstruction of Congress is still obstruction.

Congress may impeach right up to five minutes 'til midnight on Election Day and after, if necessary.

Congress cannot halt oversight of a criminal White House simply because of election politics.

Put this in your pipe and smoke it.

Let's pretend...

...that we live in a "normal" world.

Let's pretend that it is normal for the President of the United States to attack Congressmen and individual citizens with racial taunts.

Let's pretend it is normal for a President to try and divide the country, rather than unite it.

Let's pretend it is normal for a political Party to excuse these racist comments.

Let's pretend that we can overlook all these disgusting comments and actions because the economy is doing good. Let's pretend the economy is doing much better than it actually is.

Let's pretend that obstruction of justice is no worse than a traffic ticket on the way to church.

Let's pretend that we can excuse crimes and outright racism by saying "that is just the way he is". Let's pretend that he is just "fighting back" - even when there are criminal charges against him.

It is easy to pretend that uncomfortable and unacceptable actions are not really that bad if we say it is "just politics".

Let's pretend that it is no big deal if Russia determines who the next President of the United States might be?

Let's pretend that it is OK for a President to make as much money as he wants while he is in office. After all, he is an international "businessman".

Let's pretend that the laws and the Constitution of this country don't really matter. The important thing is to remain in power.

Let's pretend there will be no consequences for smaller crimes like bribery or perjury.

Let's pretend that the American people are stupid and will believe anything we tell them.

What have we got to lose?

Have we ever had a president so abusive to his fellow man?

So reckless with his comments about others?

Have we ever had a president as ignorant and divisive as Donald Trump?

Being a citizen of America is like living in an abusive relationship.

And they say there is nothing we can do.

Well, stop the bus! Let me off!
