It appears that our country has now entered a phase of cognitive dissonance.

Where what they believe is happening is in conflict with what they want to happen? Where their thoughts and attitudes are inconsistent with their beliefs?

Less and less seems to make rational sense.

How does one rationalize a President issuing an executive order to over-ride an order of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court? How can that happen in our system of government?

How can the leader of the free world talk about airports and aircraft during the Revolutionary War period?

Does he really not know better?

These are very confusing times.

Is this "census" issue some type of showdown between Trump and Roberts?

And it's really all part of the plan to take over all three Branches of Government?

What can the Supreme Court do if Trump issues an "executive order"?

I suppose the whole Court could rule upon it? How would they rule? Nobody knows.

When all is said and done, the Congress is the only sheriff in town. It is up to the Congress to hold the Executive accountable to the laws of our country.

If they don't do it, then nobody does.

No one should assume that Robert Mueller will do the predictable thing and define exactly what his report says? In the end, he may let the Republicans and Donald Trump define it for him?

We simply don't know.

Will we be a country of men or will we be a country of laws?

A country of men will no longer be a democracy. It will be something else.

Forgive my skepticism, but...

The Trump parade in the nation's capitol was not meant to bring the nation together. It was intended to help Mr Trump's political fortunes.

In my opinion, he had seen some internal polls that frightened his Party and the parade was a good place to begin the needed correction. They know that only about a third of the American people trust and support Donald Trump. He has alienated all others.

The Republican leadership understands that they will be severely damaged in the next election if Mr Trump does not get his approval numbers up. It is a necessity that he increase his number of supporters.

Also, he understands that Mr Mueller is set to testify before Congress in less than two weeks. This is paramount in his mind to all other issues. He believes in his power of persuasion and his style of PR, which is to repeat "no collusion, no obstruction" over and over until Mr Mueller's testimony. His aim is to destroy the messenger.

When the smoke clears, which may be after the next rain, little was accomplished with Mr Trump's parade on Independence Day. Hopefully, most of the smoke will have dissipated by the time Mr Mueller testifies on July 17th.

What the hell for?!

What a waste of money! Especially the spending on our military equipment.

Trump angry at God - says He is a "Never Trumper" and partial to the 'Democrat Party'...

The media was supposed to be talking about him all day, and the greatest parade in the history of mankind. Even greater than the parade that followed Moses thru the Red Sea.

But, God created an earthquake out in the desert and that's all the 'fake news' is talking about. It's like the ghost of John McCain has returned.

What is your definition of "independence"?

On Independence Day?

The contradictory juxtaposition of a paradox.

How is it possible to have a celebration of freedom and independence on one side of the country and have people locked up in cages, including women and children, on the other side of the country?

When these two events are juxtaposed, it does not make sense? It is hypocritical, to say the least.

The same government that is holding these people in cages is the same government that wants to throw a big military and fireworks display in Washington tomorrow night. One might think the government would have the decency to hold off on their celebration until they can find a solution to the crisis on our border?

It is insane!
