Juneteenth Should Be a National Holiday

Understanding the legacy of slavery, the horrors of slavery, the millions of people who died as a result of slavery, is something the federal government should acknowledge. We should make Juneteenth a national holiday.

John Cornyn disappoints me regularly. I don't quite know how he aligned himself with one of my heroines, Sheila Jackson-Lee. However, this effort to memorialize Emancipation Day is important and I'll take any favorable momentum I can find.
