Waiting to see re Biden.

Shortly before he announced I decided I wanted Biden to be the nominee (although I will vote for Buttigieg to help ensure a strong trail blazing). My reasoning was that he is best positioned to win the rust belt that we need. But after hearing the strong focus on "Get back to normal" (part of a 3 pronged position, but the one the media grabbed) I'm not so sure. It's so not what I want the Democratic party to stand for. Sure, I want to get back to civilized norms. But I don't want Trump to continue to dictate the narrative. I want to hear a strong Democratic vision.

But what I want more is to find out what those rust belt swing voters want. If "back to normal" is their thing, then let's go for it. But I'll need strong evidence before I'll be happy with this "battle" cry.

What do y'all think the rust belt wants?

1. There is no "back to normal"

Normal was in the 1950's-1970's for the rust belt. That ship has sailed. It is time for something new and those folks in the rust belt will have to get on board for the 21st century, or get out of the way. Those old jobs are not coming back. New jobs will be automated and it is time to re-think what we need.

he lost in the 2010 Mid-term which meant no help for the rustbelt. Going back means doing the things Obama and Biden wanted to do but were stopped by GOP asshats.

their primary issue.

What we need now is for candidates who will directly address what they would do as POTUS to mitigate the violent white nationalism that has grown up in the last few years.

Did you see the She the People candidate forums? That really shined a spotlight on the candidates' ideas on this. Harris and Warren really impressed.

Bring in development to bring back the young people. For older people, better income security and healthcare.

9. No, I thing he needs to do more than attack Trump and promise restoration.

He needs to talk about revitalizing communities - jobs in new industries, better wages, better healthcare and addiction treatment.
