Spoken by a man who knows what it is to be the object of others' hate.

You can always tell when empathy is real.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

His empathy is both personal, and expresses forcefully what people of good will also feel. Pete exudes presidential character.

I like Twitter use by our Democratic politicians a lot. AOC, Pete, Beto, Harris, Warren, Ted Lieu (my Rep in California) etc, are masters.

We live in a Twitter age, and lots of folks communicate that way. Personally, I don't, but practically everybody I know uses Twitter. It has become a perfectly acceptable way to say things both trivial and important.

Thanks for the info, Celerity!

I disagree with the people criticising the use of Twitter by politicians for things like this, it is not 'undignified'. It is an immediate response and if done well, helps and comforts.

.....had his eye on Pete even before he had national name recognition.

It was after the T victory and the Obama's were packing up to leave. The WH atmosphere was described as feeling "like a morgue". Some pundit asked Obama what Democrat did he think might be a good candidate to replace T in 2020.

Obama said something like, "This guy, Pete Buttigieg, is spretty interesting."

Pete's tweet is the kind of thing Obama was talking about, I think.
