Evangelist Franklin Graham, an outspoken supporter of President Trump, on Wednesday slammed 2020 presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg for calling himself a "gay christian," saying that the Bible defines homosexuality as something to be repentant of.
"Buttigieg is rightGod doesnt have a political party," Grahan tweeted. "But God does have commandments, laws & standards He gives us to live by. God doesnt change. His Word is the same yesterday, today & forever."
Graham, the son of legendary preacher Billy Graham, added in a separate tweet that "as a Christian I believe the Bible which defines homosexuality as sin, something to be repentant of, not something to be flaunted, praised or politicized.
"The Bible says marriage is between a man & a womannot two men, not two women," Graham said, before saying in a final tweet that "the core of the Christian faith is believing and following Jesus Christ, who God sent to be the Savior of the worldto save us from sin, to save us from hell, to save us from eternal damnation."

Graham you have a lot of gall calling yourself a Christian. I may not have always agreed with your dad but one thing he wasn't was a bigot.

(102,236 posts)Franklin Graham, whose despicable proselytizing at what was to be not only an ecumenical but multi-faith memorial in the aftermath, left me aghast. His spiel was so ugly towards those HE believes not worthy of HIS beliefs that I will NEVER forget. May he rot in a hell of his own imagining.

(7,632 posts)I remember as a kid that a family friend gave us one of his dad's books, signed by the ass wipe Billy Graham himself. It was "A World Aflame" or some such shit and back then he'd also have these huge "crusades" or "revivals" that could fill entire stadiums with the easily deluded.
His ministering to Presidents reached a low point when the comforting of a seriously troubled Nixon recorded the two disparaging Jews among others. And yet he was often vilified by some of his fellow Southern Baptist nutjobs as being too "liberal".
It looks like Franklin is doing everything possible to avoid that label.

(24,324 posts)One could just look at Billy's face to see he had no self-awareness, no consciousness, no open channel to anything... the tight, gritting painful tension was just frightening to see.
A self-deluded fool... I say fool because I think he actually believed the gobble-dee-gook he espoused.
Franklin, on the other hand, is a knowing snake oil salesman.

(12,448 posts)True, there's anti-gay stuff in the Old Testament, which your Christianity was supposed to supplant. Otherwise, Christians would have to obey dietary restrictions, avoid mixing fabrics, death penalty for picking up sticks on the Sabbath, etc. etc. etc. Apparently "Saint" Paul was anti-gay but that was probably self-loathing.
Not to mention: Be a decent human being like many atheists (and gays) are. But you, Frank, wouldn't know about that.

Matthew 19:24
And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Matthew 25:41-46
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

(6,043 posts)in order to try to put Franklin's bigoted words in the mouth of Jesus ?
Leviticus says Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him...
Looks like if we were a theocracy we might have to stone Franklin Graham to death. Fortunately for Franklin we have a secular government and one which allows free speech-even for blasphemers.
