Joe Biden isn't perfect, but think before anyone holds the McCain endorsement against him.

Joe decided to act like a basic human being at a time of the McCain family’s time of greatest need, and while it shouldn’t give him a special leg up, it shouldn’t disqualify him, either.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

We want a candidate that will take disillusioned R voters away from Trump. That he is being supported by the McCains speaks more about the McCains than Biden. Thankfully DU doesn’t represent the entire D party. There is a reason he is a frontrunner despite what DU says.

Bernie's campaign continues to provide videos of Trump voters who have committed to flipping for him. Having McCain voters flip to Biden would be equally commendable.

I have my issues with John McCain, including how he obtained his Navy commission and his abilities as an aviator which led to his being shot out of the sky. However, once captured, he became one of the greatest examples of patriotic heroism known to man. He volunteered for more torture so that his ill compatriots could go home. Would I have shown such valor were I in his shoes? I doubt that I would have shown the same mettle.

I also have issues with Megan. However, her filial affection is beyond reproach. If she and her mom want to endorse Biden, who would I be to opine in the negative?

As Bernie is fond of saying, "It's a free country."

That was just a decent thing to do. And now McCain's family is backing Biden...well, they are Americans, too. They can choose who they choose, and I'll choose who I choose.

If I were to hold anything at all against Biden, it would be his support of the 2005 bankruptcy law. He was one of only four D senators supporting that piece of work.

That said...

I will certainly support Biden should he be the nominee.

regardless of who supports him out of admiration, and those views should be the main focus in deciding whether to vote for Joe. The same goes for who supporters other candidates.

BUT, I wouldn't be promoting the McCain family endorsement either. Don't think that would play well with the Democratic base, so, can't see how calling attention to it would help.

Thu Apr 25, 2019, 07:49 AM
Apr 2019

the next day. Everyone gets wild over, for example, a POLITICO article.

Then the next day we find out the POLITICO article left out facts, was questionably sourced etc.

“We all love Joe and there’s no doubt who we’d support in a general erection”. Agreed! All of our candidates excite us!

“one in which he got the McCain endorsement and another in which he’s taking huge cash from Concast. “

Happily, campaign finance law prohibits corporations from contributing “huge cash” to any candidate.

Some articles make the mistake of confusing individual donations (the cable technician, the person who sells you a phone) with corporate PAC donations.

They aren’t the same at all. So if you see a meme that says Bernie is in the pocket of “Big Sugar”, it is confusing donations from individuals with jobs with corporate donations.

“Frankly if this is his day 1, I’m dreading what we’ll learn over the next few weeks.”

Understood.

But most of it will turn out not to be accurate.

An example from recent history: ‘Joe Biden is a sick old pervert who gropes every woman he gets near! He may be a pedo too!!!!” Turns out that’s not true.
