Kirsten Gillibrand on The View made me want to scream!

Last edited Wed Apr 24, 2019, 02:16 PM - Edit history (1)

Yeah, I watch. No Megan today. But Joy Behar directly challenged her on Al Franken and she had the gall to reply that the “big donors and Democratic elites” wanted him back but ordinary voters didn’t. I almost threw my prodigious coffee mug at the screen.

Thank goodness she’s got a snowball’s chance in hell.

Thanks. Had to get that off my chest.

Edit for footage. Start at 3:30. I paraphrased but watching it again pisses me off even more.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

How does she know this? Did she offer polling data on this information?

I don't think her problem with raising money is only about Al Franken. She seems to want to put the blame there, but there are other reasons. Mainly, I think it is her former incarnation as being pro gun and having other right leaning policy positions. In a national primary race, that is a lot harder to overcome than at the state level.

Though I do give her a lot of credit for voting against every single one of Trump's nominees.

I can't stand to listen to her. She lacks the ability to project and to speak with the confidence and self-assured demeanor that one naturally expects from someone who's vying to become the Leader of the Free World.

this is now. Since the railroading of Senator Franken I have seen Senator Gillibrand taking credit for her role frequently. There was a post on DU that showed an email from the Gillibrand campaign that was citing her brave actions getting Franken to resign as a reason to send her money. In contrast I don't remember Senator Warren mentioning it once since the Franken's resignation. You may want the world to see Senator Gillibrand as one of many, but she is pretty busy telling us she led the charge. Any way carry on, those windmills aren't going to tilt themselves.

So many issues, and this is the one that she is "attached" to, and she's not found a way to defend it in a way that wins over so many Dems, nor has she found a way to get anybody to move on beyond that one issue.

"this is the one that she is "attached" to, and she's not found a way to defend it in a way that wins over so many Dems, nor has she found a way to get anybody to move on beyond that one issue."

With so many seeking the one spot, getting trapped in one issue can be the kiss of death (so to speak). She is not working herself out of the mess she's in. Sorta' like John Kerry - decorated war veteran, attacked by the "Swift Boat" mob. In his case, it was BullShit, yet he did not have a swift, solid defense or attack against it.

As for KG, the attacks may or may not be BullShit - but she's not coming up with a meaningful way to get anybody to move on or consider whatever else her strengths as a candidate may be.

The Democratic candidate will need a solid core of support to win in 2020. Seems pretty obvious, at least to me if you've read anything else on this thread, that she's gonna' have a very difficult time getting even a minimal amount of support from Democrats.

but NY isn't a shoe-in for Democrats. There are many deep red areas in NY. Otherwise the NY Senate and House would be completely blue, and it's far from that. Rural areas especially go for Trump. I live in western NY. The city of Buffalo is blue, but get outside of the city and it's dead-red. The same with the Rochester area, Syracuse area, and Albany area. The southern tier of NYS might as well be Kentucky. All apologies if you live in the southern tier.

Monroe County can actually be quite conservative, especially once you leave Rochester. But Hillary carried it, as did every Dem presidential nominee since Dukakis, I believe.

In '16 Trump ran up his numbers in NY in the rural areas, just like he did in every other state. Hillary still crushed him. If Gillibrand were the nominee against Trump she'd carry NY easily by virtue of being a quasi-conservative Democrat. I'm not worried about losing NY.

Now Pennsylvania would be a problem, though. As would Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and, yes, Minnesota. That's if Gillibrand were the nominee.....

Watching that video you posted made me want to puke because of what a fraud she is. But what she was honest about his repugnant as was her caving to political pressure.

And for the sake of honesty and personal integrity, I include Kamala Harris in that as well because she too demanded that Franken resign.

I do still support Harris but this one issue does "stick in my craw" (shout out to my mémère) she loves that phrase.

136. Gillibrand blew her big chance to expose Roger Stone
Wed Apr 24, 2019, 07:52 PM
Apr 2019

Al Franken is/was innocent. An investigation would've exposed Roger Stone's rat-fucking and all the other dirty republican/fascists in this scam.

Gillibrand apparently had cred in helping real victims of sexual assault and sexual harassment. (So I'm told, I didn't even know who she was until she stuck a shiv in my senator's back.)

Given her track record on this issue, she would have/could have investigated this and exposed it. That might've put her ahead of others running to be the Democratic candidate for president.

But nope. She didn't. Roger Stone's a rat from way back. Gillibrand could have shown another generation his dirty work. He took hacked emails from that stinky rapey guy who was recently drug out of the embassy, Assange (sp?)

And instead I had to sweat out that 2018 election for Tina Smith, and sweat out all the Russian/fascist hacking and meddling.

But to see all the gendered attacks on Gillibrand makes me think my first instinct was correct.

Sexism is so pervasive, people don't really see it. Yes, even women. Even Democrats.

To talk about her voice, her being brittle and entitled.... all those things I only hear about female candidates?

It makes me really, really nervous. At least most white people agree racism is bad. Sexism? No one even wants to admit it exists -- or, if it does, it couldn't possibly be true of YOU.

Just knock it off. You don't support her? Fine. Try and do it on the basis of something other than anti-woman cliches.
