Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI don't think there's a man in the Primary who can compete with 3 of the women who are running
and that includes Joe Biden who I have always liked over all the years he's been in office.
I like Swalwell, Booker, Buttigieg, Sanders, and Biden, and I'm uncertain about O'Rourke, but unless one of them miraculously turns into a Democratic rock star like another Barack Obama, I just can't see any one of them being a better choice than Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, or Amy Klobuchar.
The way things stand now, it wouldn't surprise me if we end up with an all-female ticket in the general election. That's how good our women candidates are.

(22,236 posts)I like his message A LOT, but I haven't seen or heard enough of him yet to wonder if he would be strong competition for the 3 women I mentioned. Who knows, with time and more exposure, maybe he could emerge as a favorite.
I hope to hear much more from Inslee because I love his message on climate change. Personally, I'm disappointed that the environment hasn't been emphasized enough by most of our candidates. Kudos to Inslee for making that a main priority.

(7,596 posts)Please give him a serious look. I don't care what the polls say. He's a great guy and deserves much better than what he's been getting.

(22,236 posts)I just hope the media gives him as fair a shot with their air time as they are with everyone else. If they don't, someone else is going to hijack his message and run with it before Inslee even gets the chance.

Warren is my #2, and Kloubuchar, Harris, and Buttigieg are bunched up for me at #3, with a lean towards Kloubuchar. So I mostly agree with the OP.

(11,955 posts)with Warren more on the left side of the spectrum and Klobuchar more centrist. Positionally, I'd expect a Warren supporter to prefer Sanders to Klobuchar; I'd expect a Klobucar supporter to prefer Biden to Warren.

(1,736 posts)I would love a Sanders legislative agenda, but I am not convinced that he helps party unity. I voted for Sanders in the 2016 primary. It seems best to move completely past 2016 at this point.
I think Kloubuchar has outstanding political skills, including effectiveness at communication, more so than Biden. So if a moderate is what we go with, I would rather have a great communicator and a first woman president, which Kloubuchar gives us.
We could also benefit from another Midwestern or even Western nominee. I think Inslee helps put Montana and Arizona in more competitive territory, and Kloubuchar helps in the rural Midwest.

(22,236 posts)Half the people polled probably haven't even seen or heard any of the candidates yet and are only going on name recognition. Besides, history would tell us that early polls mean little.
