Your current Dem presidential preference

does not matter. What matters is what is happening right now. Most of us will vote for the Dem nominee, that's a given. I don't give a shit about Dem presidential candidates poll numbers right now. However, Trump's current dismissal of the law and legal accountbility is what we need to focus on right now. He's setting us up for the U.S.'s first true constitutional challenge well before the next election. What are we going to do about it?

If Trump attempts to obstruct Congressional oversight you can expect a slow, deliberate impeachment process to be started but they should not actually vote to impeach. The reason I say that is because it is entirely possible that McConnell will flat out refuse to even try for impeachment, and there is nothing that legally prevents him from doing that. That will lead to it looking like Trump isn't guilty. They need to publicly and aggressively investigate the hell out of him.

Impeachment is a House proceeding so it's up to Speaker Pelosi and the other leadership.

And McConnell is like the Attorney General of the process. I don't doubt for a second that he will refuse to even hold an impeachment trial. We all know Republicans would never convict but McConnell could also refuse to even hear a case at all. If he does that then it ends giving Trump a win. It's way better to go full throttle and impeach Barr first to test the waters. Then very slowly start the impeachment process without actually holding a vote to impeach.

is that impeaching Trump and a subsequent acquittal by the senate will make Trump stronger and harder to defeat in 2020.

Exactly. It's one thing to try an "spin" the Mueller report as an "exoneration"... but acquittal would be a GIFT to Trump.

He'd be all over the place saying he'd been found not guilty. I can hear him shouting that the deep state had tried to impeach him but he WON.

We are talking about the person who will restore order. We are talking about a decision that will require the chosen person to beat Trump in an election. I dismiss your dismissal.

primary today, I would vote for:
