I need help with a question.. are we still going to have primaries since Sen Sanders has

stepped back and suspended his campaign?? I just cannot fathom putting people at risk to go and stand in line for a primary for no reason. Joe Biden is the only one still in the race and no one is running against him.

Am I wrong about this?

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

One of the reasons that the rPukes have such a stranglehold is we Dems fail to take local elections seriously. It is important to vote for the best candidates for our state houses and senates and for sheriff and dogcatcher.

6. ..Under state law, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill cannot cancel a primary without the written

the eyes have it.

...........Under state law, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill cannot cancel a primary without the written permission of candidates who have qualified for the ballot. After Sanders made clear he was quitting the race, Merrill set to work on a statement about the status of the primary, then the 78-year-old Vermont senator threw his curveball.

“As you can imagine, what ensued was a great gnashing of teeth and all sorts of conversations about now what?” Merrill said.

Merrill has yet to receive withdrawal letters from Elizabeth Warren or Tulsi Gabbard, two other Democrats who qualified for the Connecticut ballot and then quit the race. But Sanders was the pivotal player in the question of whether Connecticut must go forward with its primary.

Sanders’ decision Wednesday effectively cedes the nomination to Joe Biden.

Bernie’s out. But he still wants a Connecticut primary. https://ctmirror.org/2020/04/08/bernies-out-but-he-still-wants-a-connecticut-primary/

Only Democrats can vote in the Democratic Primary, is that Bernie's plan? To put Democrats at risk?

5. Yes, primaries will still go on, for a number of reasons

First and foremost, primary voting is not just about the presidential nomination. In each state there are many other races on the ballot. For US Representative and Senate, for state officials and county positions, for judges, even on state Supreme Courts. These contests must be decided.

Even in the presidential contest, delegates must be officially selected.

In whatever form they may take, and however they are conducted (hopefully mostly by mail-in), the primaries must go on. It’s like the medical profession saying it’s too dangerous to be around sick people, we should just close hospitals until this is over. Our democracy is in danger; we have to make sure it receives the care it needs.

Sanders.

So, yeah, the primaries legally have to go forward. But as most have mentioned here the real issue is statewide and down ballot races. The Federal primary election is, at this point, only a technicality and inclusion secondary to the now more important state and local races.

...he intends to stay on all the primary ballots until the convention.

His stated reason being that he wants to influence Biden and presumably the party platform.

the process. In Ohio, I can vote by mail ...April 27th is date so I will send my ballot in...don't want Sanders screwing up the general with unreasonable demands we need suburban moms and moderates to vote for us in the general. People will have to decide. I do think many primaries may just be extended and eventually cancelled or vote by mail allowed. We have stuff on the ballot that does not pertain to a primary also and some other states do too so we will vote.
