George Conway group endorses Joe Biden

An anti-President Trump conservative group that includes George Conway, husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, endorsed Joe Biden on Wednesday in the 2020 presidential race.

The Lincoln Group endorsed the former vice president's campaign shortly after Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) withdrew from the contest, paving the way for Biden to become the Democratic nominee.

The organization said it is "committed to ensuring that Joe Biden is sworn in on January 20, 2021."

"Joe Biden has the experience — in politics, in government and in life — to lead the United States out of our current crisis," said co-founder Reed Galen. "As America contends with unprecedented loss, we need a leader who can steady our ship of state, bind up our common wounds, and lead us into our next national chapter. Joe Biden has the humanity, empathy and steadiness we need in a national leader."

this far out, and with all the background noise, it's sorta pointless. No one really cares. Well, they care, but November is a long way off. I think most would prefer the election to be tomorrow, get it over with and get IQ45 out. Start it about mid-summer perhaps. Now, it's better for Biden to look like the adult in the room. His compassion and sincerity will win far more points than beating negatives into the ground. So far, in this cycle, there has been almost nothing gained, and a lot of time and money (as well as support) lost by folks who have gone on the attack, especially at the wrong moment. It has nearly always backfired. Biden has stayed back from that, and it is to his benefit, IMO. People are sick of it. They really are. They want a President who can act like one. When the time comes, let Bloomberg and the Nevertrumpers blast away at IQ45, and keep Joe mostly above the fray.

Thu Apr 9, 2020, 02:29 PM

This is certainly a case in point. But NeverTrumpers should be welcome to the 2020 fold because they recognize the incredible threat that Trump and his criminal band pose to our security, our survival as a democratic Republic.

Never thought I'd say that about any group of Republicans. However, as someone said upthread, this proves that some conservatives have principles they're not willing to toss overboard for the sake of naked power-grabbing. Not this time at least.

Regardless of the past, it's time to reach out to this contingent with an open hand, rather than a clenched fist. Right now, we're on the same side with the same goal: crushing Trump and his enablers.

Strange times, indeed!
