Aaaaaaand the Berners are already attacking Civil Rights icon John Lewis ...

Now that Lewis has endorsed Biden, it didn't take long for the Berners to come for him, on other threads and on Lewis' own. I’m waiting for the “low information voter,” “you’re voting against your interests,” and other completely racist comments to get hurled. Sexism, racism, homophobia. It’s all in a day’s posts for the average Bernie fan on Twitter.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

'Bernie' marched with Dr. King, you know! Why should this fellow Lewis steal 'Bernie's' thunder as an iconic leader for Civil Rights? Who does he think he is, anyway!

"From Bernie’s perspective, dropping out of a race once you have no chance of winning is peculiar behavior that can only be explained by the work of a hidden hand. For most politicians, though, it is actually standard operating procedure. Only Sanders seems to think the normal thing to do once voters have made clear they don’t want to nominate you is to continue campaigning anyway."

The Bernie Bros are just attracted to authoritariansim? For them to say they'll vote for Trump instead of Biden is a screaming siren. I do think that a lot of them are still clinging to the Susan Sarandon school of "Trump will cause The Rebellion", and haven't noticed the deterioration of the balance of power that has been the hallmark of our democracy. I urge them to remember one of the lessons of "1984"..."the proles will never revolt".

And I'm still waiting for something beyond "tax the millionaires and billionaires" as how he's going to pay for universal health care. In fact, I'm waiting for an explanation of anything he's proposing.

These people, whether they know it or not, believe in the Great Man model of history and politics. It is not just wanting to be led, though that is part of the urge. Desire to continue in irresponsibility is the chief motivation. Under leadership of a Great Man, no one really has to do anything themselves. He will take care of things, all will be in his capable hands.

Apr 2020

I keep seeing this all over Twitter and Facebook. I'll give the Berners this much. I do think this crisis will bring us closer than we've ever been to some crazy uprising but here's the thing …

We are not the truly impoverished Egyptians who brought about the Arab Spring or other places where things are truly so bad and have been for so long that people were forged in adversity.

We are Tiger King America. We lag behind most industrialized nations in quality education. We get our intellectual sustenance from the Real Housewives. Even these homeless Berners I've seen roaming the streets of New Orleans and calling themselves gutterpunks are carrying expensive smart phones. Americans today lack the fortitude, temerity, and resilience for rebellion.

This Bernie movement is little more than something for most of them to do so that they feel like their life has meaning. It's certainly not about actually getting anything done.

than otherwise, LW and RW groups just vary in how FAR conservative they lean. Trump-Sanders movements perfect examples, including in the movement of followers from one to the other.

In any case, when Sanders mounted a populist movement to get power, that meant inevitably that he would have to serve the hostility of his "red in tooth and claw" populists on race and immigration issues especially. His LW class-warfare movement is also both relatively lite white power and nativist because it has to be to grow power from them.

In a very real sense, populistmovements are about turning the garbage in and among us into power.

On October 31, 2011; Titus entered the Democratic primary for Nevada's 1st congressional district, where her home had been drawn in redistricting. The incumbent, fellow Democrat Shelley Berkley, gave up the seat to run for the United States Senate. While the 3rd is considered a swing district, the 1st is far and away the safest Democratic seat in Nevada.

It may be "safe" for liberal Democrats...but I seriously doubt it's all that safe for socialists...LOL.

34. The Forty Year Struggle of 'Bernie' For Civil Rights, Sir, Is Particularly Amusing
Tue Apr 7, 2020, 03:14 PM
Apr 2020

Sanders as a young Marxist student was one of a crowd in a large demostration led by Doctor King to promote integrated housing in Chicago. 'Bernie' had the incredible good luck to be photographed in the hands of two of 'Chicago's finest' being hauled bodily to a paddy wagon. If recollection serves, he was in the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) while in school. What Sanders actually did after breaking with that body was book off to one of the whitest states in the Union in 1968. Apparently, by the way, in good time to avoid any participation in the several extremely active days of the Democratic Convention that year in Chicago.

It's one helluva record. Seems to me he's got Rep. Lewis just beat to a cocked hat as an ardent crusader for Civil Rights. Or maybe just beat upside the head with a billy club --- but that was Rep. Lewis, at Selma, wasn't it? Not 'Bernie'....

The next time he was "south" of the Mason Dixon Line wasn't even in the US, it was when he was Mayor about 20 years later and he visited Nicaragua, where trashed the United States.

I don't know that he had any documented visits to America's "Deep South" at all, just campaign events decades later. He surely wasn't at either of the "Bloody Sunday" commemorative gatherings at the Edmund Pettus Bridge earlier this year. For the first one he was hosting a rock concert in the LA area.

No, other than a sit-in when he was in college, where he was fined $25, he never put his life on the line like John Lewis or any of the other Civil Rights leaders.
