20. Put Some Paper Towel Between The Layers Of Tea Towel
Sun Apr 5, 2020, 06:30 PM
Apr 2020

This is on DU, somehwere, I just can't find the link to give credit

Paper towel mask inserts

"I was just watching my recording of Joy Reid's Sunday broadcast. She interviewed Jeremy Howard who wrote an article for The Guardian about wearing masks right now and Dr. Ashish Jha of the Harvard Global Health Institute who appears daily on MSNBC to talk about cv19.

Jeremy Howard pointed out several things. The Chinese have figured out that wearing a two layered cotton mask with a piece of paper towel inserted in between the layers can impede the virus from being transmitted because paper towels are so similar to surgical mask material. Conversation is now recognized as the main way that cv19 is being transmitted. Modelling suggests that if 80% of communities wears masks outdoors, "we can actually kill this virus".

So if no HEPA filters are available, the paper towel rectangle slipped into a mask pocket is efficient because of how similar it is to surgical mask material, Howard advised."

Be safe.

I saw leadership. The people have loved her for decades. Over several generations. I will be sad when she leaves us. The word “majesty” fits her. To have an icon like that, connecting you to the ages of your country’s history and heritage, to embody the British identity like that.

It’s something we in America don’t have. Our leaders change at intervals. Our heads of state are installed by vote of the people and serve for a finite number of years. They’re only temporary symbols of leadership and national identity.

But the monarchy of England is different. Living history and heritage and continuity that directly links to centuries past and, into the future - all the way to her great-grandchildren.

Her son and immediate heir (Prince Charles) wears a signet ring with a symbol that stands for “I serve.” I always had a soft spot in my heart for him in his awkward struggles, outshined and completely washed over by Princess Diana. I found myself sympathetic to him during all that while everybody else was busy swooning over her. HE’s the one with the direct blood-connection to that amazing and storied heritage - from that amazing mother he has. (More or less that all the British people have.)

We do have that. On purpose. Our founders chose something different. But the Crown of England carries on. And the woman who still wears it can serve as a symbol of strength and constancy and stability and continuity for the whole world.

That Queen they have over there. That’s no mere woman. That’s a living INSTITUTION.

God save the Queen.

Not every campaign ad has to be a personal sales job. Sometimes it's nice just to be reminded once in a while that we're still a country and that it's not all about just one person...even if that person happens to be the POTUS.

We've been far too Trumpatized over the last 3-plus years. I'm tired of seeing his ugly-ass puss on TV 24/7. I'm tired of having his stupidity and ignorance constantly shoved down my throat. I'm tired of having a President who thinks it's necessary to make a galactically stupid comment or an outrageously insane Tweet every time he senses the country has stopped talking about him for more than 8 hours.

When Joe is President I just want him to hire some good competent people and then go do his damn job and mostly leave us alone to live our lives. If we don't see him for days or even weeks at a time that's just fine with me. Just pop up every once in a while to let us know "hey, folks...just letting you guys know I'm still here and that me and my people are taking care of business and everything looks pretty good at the moment". Or if he sees something possibly bad on the horizon then show up and give us a heads up about it and clue us in on what he's thinking about doing about it.

You know, like normal past Presidents used to do. Not this imbecilic egomaniacal narcissistic sorry excuse for a human being and an American we got now.

I swear, Cha...I've sat next to drunks practically falling off of barstools who made more sense and knew more than the Fuhrer.

Love what Fran Lebowitz said about him years ago...

https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2018/mar/20/fran-lebowitz-you-do-not-know-anyone-as-stupid-as-donald-trump

Echoing the reported opinion of former US secretary of state Rex Tillerson, Lebowitz thinks the biggest danger of Trump is that he is a moron. “Everyone says he is crazy – which maybe he is – but the scarier thing about him is that he is stupid. You do not know anyone as stupid as Donald Trump. You just don’t.”
