'A lot has changed': Bernie's Wisconsin stronghold breaks hard for Biden

Bernie Sanders was riding high in Wisconsin just six weeks ago, powered by a double-digit polling lead and the widespread belief that he’d sail to victory just as he did in 2016.

Now, Democratic activists and operatives on the ground expect Sanders to lose big in the crucial Midwestern swing state — a defeat that would likely lead to a deafening chorus of Democratic voices demanding he drop out of the race.

“Up until Biden got his mojo going, it was presumed Sanders would win the state again,” said Patrick Guarasci, a Milwaukee-based Democratic strategist. “He was the most organized here, he had the most vibrant following. A lot has changed in the last month.”

Sanders’ reversal in fortune — the latest Marquette Law School poll shows Sanders trailing Joe Biden by nearly 30 points — comes after a consolidation of Democratic support behind Biden. It’s the same dynamic that lifted the former vice president to victory across 14 states on Super Tuesday then again in a handful of big states that followed.

If Bernie can't win these two, he can't win anywhere. Okay, a slight exaggeration.

This year, I have seen very few yard signs. Most are leftovers from last fall.

that since many of Bernie's supporters are already jumping ship to vote for Biden in a primary then surely they will also vote for Joe come November.

If states like WI were still very close even if Biden still won them I'd be a lot more worried that a significant amount of BS voters might stay home or worse yet flip to Trump.

These huge margins that Joe has been winning by are an indication that the consolidation within the party that the vast majority of we Democrats crave for is already taking place to a large degree and that we have probably been worrying a little too much about a relatively small handful of squeaky wheel protesters.

always the way it was going to be, though.

We have an overwhelmingly liberal progressive Democratic electorate. We have beliefs, ideals, aspirations, goals that are only met by liberal Democrats like ourselves.

This primary presented:

1. A handful of unrepresentative self-offerings embarrassing the bottom of our ticket,
2. A pair of conservative Democrats who were soundly rejected early on,
3. One subversive, anti-Democratic true believer pushed as a spoiler by Repub-Russia and hostile media,

AND

4. Well over a dozen really good, solid, liberal, progressive Democrats: governors!, senators!, a VP!, and other good Democrats who were genuinely qualified if comparatively lightly.

And now we have one left: the VP statesman. It was right and inevitable that we LIBERAL PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS consolidated in support of the remaining LIBERAL PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE.

Not exactly a surprise. All the deep analysis in the world won't change the basic reality that we believe we, and only we, can and will govern well. For good reason. We are it. We've always been it.

"Repub-Russia"...I like that, so don't be surprised if I steal it and use it occasionally. You can send me a bill for royalties and I'll send you your cut once Munchkin sends me my bailout check. Assuming it doesn't bounce.

no need to focus his worst demonization on one little part, he can openly go after all of us again and will. But his true believers are far too well trained to snarl at the acronym not to use it like the ring in their noses they so happily wear.
