Anyone notice there hasn't been any bragging about how much candidates have received recently?

Two days was the end of March and the first quarter of 2020. At previous times we've seen candidates' campaigns, one in particular, boasting about how much they received, how many individual contributors and how many individual contributions.

Not a peep this time. Wonder why that is? Has the "small donor" pipeline dried up?

Watchdog files FEC complaint against pro-Sanders nonprofit

WASHINGTON (AP) — The watchdog group Common Cause filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday, alleging that Our Revolution, a political nonprofit organization founded by Bernie Sanders, violated campaign finance law by accepting donations in excess of federal limits while boosting his White House ambitions.

Our Revolution has taken in nearly $1 million from donors whose contributions exceeded those limits and whose identities it hasn’t fully disclosed, according to tax filings for 2016, 2017 and 2018. Much of it came from donors who contributed six-figure sums.

“Because Sanders set up Our Revolution and they have raised and spent money in candidate elections, Our Revolution is required to comply with contribution limits, register with the FEC and discloses its donors — but it hasn’t,” said Paul S. Ryan, an attorney for Common Cause. “It’s his establishment of the group that triggers these laws. That means a $5,000 limit, full donor disclosure and no contributions from prohibited sources.”

This kinda helps explain some mysterious numbers I saw in a link I posted today on another thread. Tsk, tsk, Bern. What was that you were saying about Joe taking too much "big money"?

Nina Turner, a former Ohio state senator and a co-chair of Sanders’ campaign, was president of the group until she took a leave of absence to work on his presidential bid. In May, she resigned from the role, which paid her $187,000 in 2018. Other Sanders surrogates, including radio commentator Jim Hightower and Palestinian rights activist Jim Zogby, have also served on the board.

Yikes! No wonder ol' Nina is such a vociferous Sanders shill...pays very well indeed!

4. One reason, IMO, that a certain campaign hasn't suspended is to keep the payroll checks coming...

as well as the donations. Keeping a low profile on the donations this month is to not attrack attention to this. Sanders and the top staffers know it's over but as long as they can keep it going...

And once they finally do suspend, the war chest will be distributed to skirt campaign finance laws and end up in certain friends and family members' pockets.

These are his closest advisers who probably are urging him to stay in the race.

7. During the active part of the campaign

those candidates whose fundraising exceeded expectations were quick to point that out, but there is a date by which quarterly reports must be filed, and we will surely see something at that point. C-19 has pushed all of the other news off the table, but political sites will most likely list quarterly figures soon.

Is no longer full of campaign requests for contributions. I was getting 10 a day. Now, none, thankfully.
