It occurs to me, as I read some making vague statements

about any criticism of Bernie Sanders dividing the party and making it likely that some of his supporters will not vote at all in November, that such veiled threats make no sense. Why would anyone who supports Sanders not vote for Biden, and thus give Trump a better chance of winning a second term?

Is the good of our society not important enough? Would not voting somehow pay people back for not supporting some primary candidate? That makes no sense at all.

Running for President is going to bring criticism for any candidate. If your favorite doesn't become the nominee, then not enough people voted for him. Vote for the Democratic nominee because he is a better choice than the alternative. Don't stamp your feet in frustration and not vote at all. Make sense with the available choices.

Destruction of the 'Democratic Establishment' is a necessary preliminary to Revolution. To these, putting Trump out of office would be no gain, at least no gain worth striving for, if he is replaced by a mere 'Corporate Democrat', and the 'Democratic Establishment' is thus strengthened to continue its chief goal, which is not ending reactionary Republican misrule, but stifling the revolutionary left. Outre though it may seem, this is the real belief of the most extreme factions in the Sanders camp, and was certainly Sanders' belief at the commencement of his political career. Since we are continually assured 'Bernie' has remained consistent, and true to his principles, we cannot be sure this view is not still some portion of the man's own motivation today.

People respond irrationally if angered. As I often say, "I can be lead but I will not be pushed."

You and I have come to what we believe to be the correct decision. We are at the point where the primary result is very nearly inevitable. Senator Sanders and his supporters sincerely believe they are correct. As a result, they will need the time to come to that conclusion. The more they are pushed, or their judgment or patriotism questioned, the longer it will take.

Most of Bernie supporters come from a privileged background and they can afford to take out their disappointment on the nominee.

Persuading them is Bernie's job which he can't do because he is with them.

9. Deja Vu. We Should Accept That Many BS Supporters Want Trump To Win

We have seen this before that we need to layoff BS in order to get BS supporters to vote against Trump. This is classic BS. Do not fall for it.

Lets not fool ourselves regarding what is going to happen. BS is going to do everything he can to weaken Biden to help Trump. Then at the last minute, BS will endorse Biden, then his supporters will go to the convention boo black speakers and do everything they can to disrupt it. Meanwhile, BS's surrogates themselves will loudly announce that they are voting for Jill Stein.

A lot of BS's support is driven by animosity toward the Democratic party that BS actively encourages. On top of that, BS keeps a lot of his family members on his campaign or charitable foundation payroll. The longer the campaign goes, the more he and his family get paid. BS gets to jet around in first class, hold rallies, and act like the center of attention. Then, if Biden wins, BS will claim credit for endorsing him. If Trump loses, BS will say that he is vindicated. In either event, BS comes out ahead even if American workers suffer.

VOTER Survey respondents in 2011 who became Sanders supporters in 2016 were no more likely than people who went on to support Clinton to favor government-provided health care or tax increases on the wealthy, although they were somewhat less likely to favor government regulation of business, virtually the same on trade policy. The difference was that Sanders supporters were more pessimistic about the economy. Sanders did better among those who had less trust in the government, more likely to agree with the statement, "People like me don't have any say about what the government does."

The difference between Biden and Sanders supporters isn't policy, but identities grounded in partisanship and race. A fight between a centrist and a progressive, as Sanders says it is, isn't real.
