but to entertain the thought is to realize there is great uncertainty over where the pandemic will be by July

So surely a few are kicking the possibility around here or there

For now, too much is uncertain to commit to changing the convention.

But I do think the sooner they start looking at their options (perhaps a tele-convention or something like it), then the better off they'll be if they must cancel the physical convention itself. Now is definitely the time to start looking at ways to get around the COVID-19 problem.

We have no clue where the health crisis will be four months from now. Of course they should continue to plan for a normal convention. At the same time, you should also planning for an alternative. To not have an organized option waiting to be implemented would be begging for disaster.

they might not have time to resurrect it if they needed to bring it back. They should wait until it is close, and then decide whether or not to cancel it.
