Responsibility.

Pete's "Rules of the Road" was one of my favorite components of his historic campaign. I will not deny, that there are moments when I wonder what might have been... In his speech, suspending his campaign.

One of those values is truth. And today is a moment of truth. After a year of going everywhere, meeting everyone, defying every expectation, seeking every vote, the truth is that the path has narrowed to a close for our candidacy, if not for our cause.

And another of those values is responsibility. And we have a responsibility to consider the effect of remaining in this race any further. Our goal has always been to help unify Americans to defeat Donald Trump and to win the era for our values. And so we must recognize that at this point in the race, the best way to keep faith with those goals and ideals is to step aside and help bring our party and our country together.

I hope Senator Sanders sleeps well tonight, even if he's heartbroken and disappointed. Tomorrow, when he wakes, I hope he makes the decision to begin bringing the democratic party together by ending his campaign. It's time to consolidate resources, energy and strategy for the road ahead. We MUST blow out the presidential election so big that it drags numerous New Democratic senators into the upper chamber while keeping Nancy Pelosi as the Speaker of the House!

There are rumors that he will drop out. I don't like Bernie very much, but I will respect him if he drops out. I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt.

The more Bernie campaigned in MI, the more the voters rejected him. Voters sent a resounding message to Bernie.

9. It was the same old message Michiganders had heard in 2016

Bernie offered them nothing new, just some unrealistic ideas with more noise and fingerwagging. While that did manage to appeal to young people, it does not appeal to the working class who need more practical solutions for their families, and a unifier who can bring the country together instead of dividing us.

5. Until I hear it from him I'm assuming he's in until June 2

I think Bernie cares more about his “movement” than he does about beating Trump.

I don’t think he cares whether or not down ballot races in Montana or Maine, for example, are won by Democrats as much as he cares about his “movement.”

I think the only thing bigger than the price tag for his ideas is his ego.

So, while I share your hope that he gets out thereby helping to instill a period of calm well before the convention, I suspect we will all probably be here next week, in April, in May and finally June, watching Bernie get crushed in state after state, wondering why he won’t just get out. He is what he is and we’ve all seen this movie before.

Our goal is to beat trump and for that we need everybody who cares about our Planet and Country to be on deck.

8. 2020 is different than 2016

Even though Bernie steadily fell further behind in delegates as the primary season progressed, he was still winning lot of states...in part because many more were caucuses. Delegate math aside, it still looked pretty close on a map when colored in. This map so far is looking horrible for him, and the longer it goes the more people will see Biden blue almost everywhere they look.

So many things have fallen perfectly into place the last 2 weeks...you couldn't have scripted it any better if you tried. The final piece would be for Sanders to bow out gracefully and seal the deal. Then Bernie and Joe can get together and hammer out what things from the progressive agenda Biden thinks are realistic and affordable and thus doable.

Getting hammered over and over again is not good for progressives...it only makes them look weaker than they really are. Better to stop opposing each other in futility and start working together in unity.

But Bernie is not any other candidate. I may be wrong. But until I hear it from him it’s just hope and theory.

just what would be best for the party. I'm not quite as pessimistic as you are but I'm not a whole lot more optimistic either. We will have to just wait and see what happens.

7. Bernie's path to victory is gone, All effort, including Bernie's, need to be focused on helping Joe

beat Trump. I congratulate Bernie and his supporters on a hard fought primary and putting together a serious grass roots organization with some noble goals. That said, there is no goal more noble that taking down Trump and his GOP minions. The GOP knows now that they are facing Joe in November - the battle between Biden and Trump starts today regardless of what Bernie or anybody else may wish for.
