I don't want Bernie to drop out yet..

I want give a chance for the other states to vote at least until Florida and Georgia. I also want see a Biden vs Bernie debate. It actually helps our party when battle of ideas are debated and the general election voters know what we stand for. Remember Obama vs Clinton was drawn out until June and we still won the election in a landslide.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Otoh, a ballot with the only alternatives to VP Biden being Sanders and Gabbard, both of whom are wildly unrepresentative of most Democrats and both of whom Russia is using against both the Democratic Party and America, is going to be...a poignant indication of the dangerous times our nation is in.

But nevertheless also of what the Democratic Party truly believes in. Thank everything that can be thanked that we do have a very strongly supported candidate in Biden.

that sounds like a reasonable thing to do. However, there is too much at stake. I am hoping Bernie will realize that he's not going to win this particular race, and strategize with Biden, Elizabeth Warren, and whoever else to figure out how to unite against Trump and for down ticket wins to take back the House and Senate.
Then everyone can argue all they want.

Plus not give our nominee a head start like Trump enjoys?

The polls in all remaining states show Biden ahead by at least double digits and in some cases by 30 or 40 points.

It will be a futile exercise. Raises hopes of Bernie supporters and sets them for a bigger grief.

We don't need to duke it out anymore and give more fodder to the GOP. It's time to move on. And pivot to the general election. Plus, he needs to save some face. The states coming up are expected to be brutal for him.

another few weeks wouldn't really hurt, but I don't see what good it would do, either. We've had a good battle of ideas, and a lot of ideas Sanders has championed have gained ground. But the party electorate's priorities and preferences are pretty clear, at this point.

Tue Mar 10, 2020, 10:29 PM
Mar 2020

Given the way this thing has changed so rapidly and so forcefully, I'm inclined to think it might be better for Bernie to exit stage left very soon. It does not help the progressive agenda to continue to be blown out in state after state after state.

But like I said, I could perhaps see one last debate if they keep it civil and allow one more primary day if anybody needs further convincing. And should the results be anywhere similar (and it looks like Florida will be even worse) then we must pull the plug and end this thing.

I'm leaning toward the former, however. I've seen enough myself, and realistically speaking one more debate and one more primary will almost certainly not accomplish anything useful. Both of these men have been around a long time and anybody who hasn't been in a coma for the last 30 or 40 years already knows what each of them stands for.
