17. Sanders and Iraq...
Sat Mar 7, 2020, 12:32 PM
Mar 2020

In 1998 Sanders voted in favor of the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, which said: "It should be the policy of the United States to support efforts to remove the regime headed by Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq and to promote the emergence of a democratic government to replace that regime."

Later that same year, Sanders also backed a resolution that stated: "Congress reaffirms that it should be the policy of the United States to support efforts to remove the regime headed by Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq and to promote the emergence of a democratic government to replace that regime."

Sanders also voted for the 2001 Authorization Unilateral Military Force Against Terrorists (AUMF), which pretty much allowed Bush to wage war wherever he wanted.

Authorization for Use of Military Force - Authorizes the President to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations, or persons.

States that this Act is intended to constitute specific statutory authorization within the meaning of the War Powers Resolution.

And there's Sierra Blanca....
Sanders' are still profiting from Sierra Blanca nuclear waste dump, per their 2014 tax return

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — As a congressman in the 1990s, Bernie Sanders expressed an openness to making “adjustments” to the tax and benefit structure of Social Security. He also praised an overhaul of the social safety net program signed into law by President Ronald Reagan that reduced benefits and increased taxes on working families.

It's not difficult...

I think you may have heard what you wanted to... because of this:

https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2020/jan/09/bernie-sanders/did-biden-laud-paul-ryan-proposal-cut-social-secur/

Sanders’ presidential campaign and allies have highlighted similar remarks by Joe Biden to attack the former vice president and make the explosive charge that Biden was an outspoken proponent of slashing the program.

That's how it became "for thirty years" and how people "heard it on MSNBC".

14. Here's a reference from the Interceptor:
Sat Mar 7, 2020, 12:25 PM
Mar 2020

“When I argued that we should freeze federal spending, I meant Social Security as well,” he told the Senate in 1995. “I meant Medicare and Medicaid. I meant veterans’ benefits. I meant every single solitary thing in the government. And I not only tried it once, I tried it twice, I tried it a third time, and I tried it a fourth time.” (A freeze would have reduced the amount that would be paid out, cutting the program’s benefit.)

“The truth is the last election did one thing,” Biden continued. “I do not know whether it really made you guys a majority party for long. I do not know. We will find out. I know one thing it did. What it did was it made sure that there was nobody left on the left in my party who, in fact, said we do not care about moving the budget toward balance.”

I'm not sure why you're resisting what is easily found on several sites. He's been trying to freeze or cut Social Security since 1984. The point you should be pushing as a Biden supporter, if you want to be taken seriously, is that he has changed his position. But if you're going to pooh-pooh facts that can be easily researched, then I have to question whether you really want to discuss the issues, or are you gaslighting for him?

15. Biden's current stance on Social Security: (posted elsewhere earier today)
Sat Mar 7, 2020, 12:29 PM
Mar 2020

1. He will put [Social Security] on a path to long-term solvency by asking Americans with especially high wages to pay the same taxes on those earnings that middle-class families pay.

2. He will allow [a] surviving spouse to keep a higher share of the [Social Security] benefits...raising the monthly payment by about 20% for affected beneficiaries.

3. He will provide the oldest beneficiaries...with a higher monthly check to help protect retirees from the pain of dwindling retirement saving

4. Under the Biden Plan, workers who spent 30 years working will get a benefit of at least 125% of the poverty level.

5. Biden is starkly opposed to privatization

6. He sides with his party on increasing the taxable earnings cap

7. He favors means testing for benefits

8. Biden has been willing to entertain raising the retirement age in the past

9. He's more of a centrist, and his views have changed considerably over time.

The examples they provided in the article of Biden looking at situational options in the past like a temporary freeze don't reflect his current positions.

"According to NBC News, Biden's 2007 presidential campaign featured more of a centrist view on fixing Social Security"

"In 1995, then-Delaware Sen. Biden fought hard for serious federal deficit reductions and even pushed toward a balanced budget. Among the cuts Biden proposed was the idea of freezing Social Security's outlays -- i.e., no longer passing along cost-of-living adjustments."

Etc.
