Reading this most excellent treatment of sexism and Warren didn't make me feel any better either:

There is a lot to process. This candidacy will be remembered.

(14,565 posts)The Bernie Sanders crew was moronic and forced Gillum as nominee about moderate Gwen Graham. There is no question Graham would have defeated Ron DeSantis. Instead Gillum was easily labeled a socialist and that took down Bill Nelson in the senate race in Florida.
There is nothing shady down here, unless you count old people voting and young people staying home. The 18-29 bracket was 10% of the electorate in 2018 while 65+ was 36%.
Florida elections are easy to handicap. It was that Naples shuttle bus where I heard senior citizen white voters discussing Biden and Bloomberg as the only ones they would consider above Trump. The rest were deemed "too far out there." That meant Bernie Sanders and also Elizabeth Warren.

(46,016 posts)That seems like small potatoes given what goes on in our federal government. I hope he puts it in his past.

(694 posts)So it goes. I always vote for the democratic candidate in the GE. I wonder if, in my lifetime, there will come a day when the conservative democrats are forced to vote for a progressive candidate.

(7,772 posts)I will say, though, that I am getting a bit tired of hearing 'now's not the time'.
As of the last week, it has even amplified into a you're not welcome message.
Sorry, hard to be enthusiastic about another old white man, and of whom I have serious questions as to health (I observed him extensively here in Iowa), and has positions that are generally to the right of mine.
But, hey, party unity . . . and where else do you liberals go.
As Biden said, here in Iowa, to a possible constituent, "Hey, don't like it, vote for the other guy (Red Don)". And we saw more than one flash of anger like this from him in Iowa.
Sorry Biden supporters. I'll vote for the guy, but I think the party is making a huge mistake. They are nominating the Biden of 12 years ago, not the Biden that physically exists today.

(1,384 posts)The endless search for Reagan lite has landed us right where we are today. I have no confidence in the media to cover anything but the horse race of politics. We are where we are today not because of votes I wanted to cast, but because of votes I had to cast. We always move to the middle against an ideological opponent that doesnt compromise. Nixon would now be a main stream Democrat and FDR labeled a socialist. Im feeling really old and am exhausted from saying I told you so. I looked up Bidens health care plan starting to think about how to convince my smart, idealistic, and really well informed Bernie supporting friends that he is worth biting the bullet for. Ouch. Today, Im too tired for this.

(7,772 posts)I believe that one of the mandatory roles of Government is to provide a floor below which one will not fall, regardless.
Food, housing and access to medical care.
I believe that access to medical care is a right, and one of the mandatory roles of Government. Access, that is, that will not result in bankruptcy.
All of said two, above, accomplished without concocting Rube Goldberg-like legislation to maximize profits for the politically connected elite.
Beyond that, free market.
For this, I, and most true liberals, have been accused of being Socialists along the order of Castro, Chavez, and Lenin (Lenin was a Socialist, who knew?) by the 'elite' of the party I have supported, if for no other reason than having no where else to go.
I will vote for whoever the PRI puts up, because they are still better than the Baath candidate, even if the PRI candidate is failing mentally (I live in Iowa, I attended some events, there is definitely has something going on health wise). Then again, I hope he turns out to be our Gladstone, maybe not my cup of tea, but a solid hand, which is what we need right now.
So, I, also, am too tired. I've had it. I'll vote PRI, but if I am not to be represented, I'll be damned if I donate or work.
And, no, I am not a Sanders supporter, but after the last week I am definitely feeling the burn.

(9,594 posts)Elizabeth Warren was all those things yesterday.
Elizabeth Warren IS all those things today.
Most importantly, Elizabeth Warren WILL BE all of that, and more, in our future. We are lucky to have her!
She will never stop fighting for our country.
And we will be right there with her!
To Elizabeth Warren!
