Joe just hit 20%.

He and Elizabeth are now tied on DU. I wonder if this represents any larger trends outside DU? Go Joe! Let’s kick the fascist out on his ass in November!

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

It seems fairly safe to say, just by comparing DU numbers to polls in general, that DU is wildly out of step with the Democratic party as a whole.

Mon Mar 2, 2020, 01:29 PM

For the last almost 20 years, DU has been decidedly more progressive than the Democratic party as a whole, favoring candidates like Howard Dean, Dennis Kucinich, Barack Obama (before they realized he was moderate), and Bernie Sanders over candidates like John Kerry and Hillary Clinton.

And I reject any notion the Democratic party is/has been conservative.

But conservative Democrats do exist, I’ve known a few. I agree that overall we’re more left than the party but I’ve seen more far left types outside of DU, like on Twitter, Facebook, and that horrible JPR site.

Like I said.

of course. And I've seen anarchists elsewhere. DU has never been the home of extreme radicals (or they didn't last long), but DU has long had a far left bend to it. Joe Biden leading Sanders, and tying with Warren, doesn't necessarily mean the site is more moderate than it's ever been. It likely means it's more pragmatic in the face of a second Trump term.

to be very liberal, but there are many experienced voices here that are also pragmatic and want a nominee who can beat Donald Trump. That's not saying that Joe isn't a progressive, most of our candidates are, but he is our best progressive to win in a general election. Also he could get progressive policies through congress.
