Related: About this forumWhen will negotiations start between Bernie 2020 and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 400?
We are three weeks out from his workers unionizing and going with United Food and Commercial Workers Local 400 as representation. I see nothing with respect to even the start of negotiations.

(3,259 posts)Very interesting how different you and I see this. I think it's good they have unionized. You find the mere mention of it to be "eating our own."
Or is it that you think it was just a publicity move? Now I get you comment.

(42,862 posts)It's not "eating our own". That's the trendy catch-all phrase that's being used as a shield against valid criticism and legitimate questions.

Rest assured there are negotiations going on, obviously you aren't on the please inform list. Don't worry it will be announced.

(45,120 posts)Mark P Federici at his word that negotiations for a collective bargaining agreement will begin "as soon as possible." Just because the negotiations haven't been announce as being complete doesn't mean they aren't on going.
The union said that by Friday, a majority of the campaign's 44 bargaining-unit-eligible employees had signed union cards. Sanders' aides said on a recent conference call that the campaign has roughly 70 paid staffers. The union says that all campaign employees below the level of deputy director will be represented by the union and that negotiations for a collective bargaining agreement will begin "as soon as possible."
Federici called the unionization a breakthrough that he hoped would serve as a model for other campaigns.
"While political campaigns aren't the easiest work environment, every worker has the right to respect and dignity," he said. "And when candidates who claim to support the labor movement practice what they preach, that sends a powerful message that, if elected, they will deliver on their promises to strengthen union rights and level the playing field between workers and employers."

(45,120 posts)negotiations have stopped, broken down and are no longer going on. No announcements. So they are still currently ongoing or soon will be. Federici said negotiations for a collective bargaining agreement will begin "as soon as possible." in March.
That's how it works.

(45,120 posts)I gave you the information I found about the negotiations in 2 different links from Feb and March that said the negotiations will begin "as soon as possible". Ignore them or not, I'm not going to go round and round about the terms "currently ongoing" or "soon will be" or not sure.
Good luck with whatever you eventually find out.

(3,259 posts)With Safeway and Food Giant. I had read the other story almost three weeks ago. I was looking for any other similar information. The Union often lists upcoming negotiations on their website.
I don't see a link from February.

Seems you were just in it for the buzz. That's what I think is pretty lame.

The union normally puts up articles on their website about upcoming contracts. I looked there before writing the op. Nothing is stated.
