(7,615 posts)about the DNC than the voters. They remind me of the Houston Texans - they seem to find some way to lose. Tired of that on both counts. If we cannot beat the slime ball in the WH this time, that is pretty sad.

(3,974 posts)Sorry but the DNC is not the all powerful monolith that you think it is. That's just crazy talk.

(7,615 posts)anyone try and discredit a front runner simply because they are not a member of the establishment. I hope it is a unfounded fear on my part.

Trump had 64% non college-white last time
On the plus side
large groups sat out last time and didnt vote
One being only 13% of validated voters in 2016 were younger than 30
and those that did vote
went Clinton 58% to 28%, with 14% supporting one of the third-party candidates
There is no third party this time
Also the religiously unaffiliated are increasing every year, and they went dem last time in high percentage
So hope !

Besides, the GOP has been quietly courting the Hispanic vote behind the scenes while we remained fixated on 2016. I've seen it here in Miami. Their Spanish language commercials are light years more sophisticated and well messaged. It's like we desperately throw things together in the final weeks. Rick Scott reinvented himself largely due to how he was perceived to handle hurricane preparation, and also by learning just enough Spanish to cut ads and offer a few canned sentences during appearances.
Our problem is the need to win the popular vote by at least 3% to feel comfortable about matters. I remember in 2016 being started at a 538 estimate that Hillary had less than a 10% chance to win the electoral college if she won the popular vote by less than 1%. That's how poor the distribution is right now. So when you see a poll of a Democrat leading Trump by 2% nationally, it means Trump actually is ahead in terms of the electoral college likelihood.
