Women candidates have fun hobbies, too, they just don't get asked about them

https://www.vogue.com/article/2020-women-candidates-quirky-hobbies-intellect-too

Did you know that Beto O'Rourke was in a punk band named Foss in the 90s and that Pete Buttigieg taught himself to speak Norwegian, basically for fun? Chances are, you might, because male candidates are routinely covered as both serious contenders and as multi-faceted human beings. Groundbreaking!

But what if—stay with me—I told you that the women candidates vying for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination also had fun hobbies and vast intellectual curiosity? And that these charismatic qualities are lurking just beyond all of the narratives about their nebulous "likability" and totally offensive efforts to remove Al Franken from Congress for groping a woman?

In the spirit of covering women candidates for the "rock stars" they, too, are: read on for 19 colorful character quirks and staggering academic achievements of Sens. Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand and Amy Klobuchar. Two of them even have dogs!

It's hard for men online to get enthusiastic for women. And women's behavior online is just different. I have no data, just observation.

And the women candidates also have a lot of great ideas then need to be heard. There is not just ONE candidate that can win, we have a great field of candidates that can win, and we need to hear "all" of them, and find out who has the best ideas.

All I see nowadays is bashing and fighting here on DU, egged on by a lot of trolls who want to divide the board and stir up shit, just like in 2016. DU can do better.

Actually, I read that article. But, I've seen other mentions of the pastimes, accomplishments, etc. of our Democratic women who are running. I've seen some mentions, too, of those of the men.

And Vogue has now covered those things for women, as well. That magazine comes to my mailbox every month, ever since my wife gave me a subscription to it as a joke. Not only do I get to keep up on matters of fashion, there is always a thoughtful article in each issue about something important. Her joke didn't work. I can find something to learn from any magazine.

Other sources for such information are the Wikipedia articles on those candidates.
