Fact check: Biden is right, Bloomberg opposed Obamacare in 2010

Joe was right last night

"The mayor said, when we passed it, the signature piece of this administration, 'It's a disgrace.' They're the exact words. 'It was a disgrace.' Look it up, check it out. 'It was a disgrace,'" Biden said.

Bloomberg did in fact call the Affordable Care Act a "disgrace" in 2010, and there's video — Biden just put it in an online ad. The former New York City mayor's health care plan includes a proposal to "build on the ACA to achieve universal health coverage."

of improvement.

Obama had to construct a Goldbergian health plan to get the votes needed. It was a major accomplishment, but it wasn't what is needed long-term, especially after the Medicaid expansion provisions were removed.

Obama and Biden pushed for an even stronger and more comprehensive plan (e.g., a public option), but it could not get enough support in Congress.

And I believe the Medicaid issue was due to a ruling by the Supreme Court, which was made in part by conservative Justices that were nominated by Bush after he beat out Gore, in large part, due to progressive-types voting for spoiler third party candidates with no chance of winning. We now have two more conservative Justices on the Court thanks to the same type of idiotic behavior in 2016.

Some progressives can be their own worst enemy.
