If Bloomberg wins this nomination, I'm going to have to drink a LOT of Glenlivet before I have to vote for him.
And when you finish this, look for the Twitter threads about the horribly sexist things he has said.
We can do better than to nominate this guy, Dems.

(1,713 posts)but we vote Blue anyway. I have comfort in knowing that Bloomberg would crush Trump with unlimited funds. I voted for Mike today along with 6 buddies. We wanna beat Trump

(13,909 posts)Bloomberg will contribute a few billion even if he loses the nomination. Then we wouldnt have to worry about Trump outspending our nominee.

(5,122 posts)He's an amazing philanthropist. I am most worried about the policies he enacted that had a negative impact on people's lives. Will he govern as president the way he governed as mayor? Its not just stop and frisk. His policies often had a negative impact on the poor and working class. I have heard people say, oh, he will be checked by democrats if he tries to enact undemocratic policies. Well, the republicans thought they could control Trump too.....
Oh and then there was the push to get rid of term limits so he could stay on as mayor for a 3rd term. Those things leave a bad taste in my mouth.

(21,340 posts)that's ok with me. He can afford it. But that does not mean I will feel obligated or so grateful that I would vote to make him our nominee.
I will not vote for him in the primary.
If he does get the nomination, I would vote for him only on the basis that he would be marginally better than Trump. And then I would watch him closely.

(63,172 posts)Yeah? Well, honestly, we should be able to do better than anyone currently in the running, but this is what we have to work with. It's absurd that the entire Democratic party can't put forth a better candidate. Warren is my first choice, but I'm not a fool, and I can see the downward spiral clearly.
Can someone name another candidate who's as well-organized as Bloomberg?
Or who gets under fuckhead Trump's orange hide the way Bloomberg does?
Honestly, Bloomberg is my last choice out of the current field of candidates, but his ads and therefore his message has a better reach than all of the other contenders combined.
I will absolutely vote for whoever winds up on our ticket, but it would be a wonderful, refreshing change if any of our candidates were actually worth getting excited about--and that includes Sanders, before any of his supporters reiterate their belief that he's the obvious and inevitable perfect candidate.

(4,959 posts)I've seen the link before but finally had a chance to watch it.
I implore people who don't quite get why some of us are raging about Bloomberg to please, please, please watch this video. And please notice that there are supporters of all the Dem candidates expressing vehement concerns about Bloomberg.
I've never really watched more than a few minutes of Trevor Noah before but he just lays it out so clearly here.
