1. I haven't chosen but I am leaning toward two different ones and

don't mind most of the rest.

I was happy with Harris. I hate she dropped out. I could have voted higher on the enthusiasm scale if she was still in.

Right now, I'm not too overly enthusiastic about anyone.

I guess after Obama, that is to be expected. Once you have had one you really grew* to love, everything else is going to seem lackluster in comparison.

Who else would have that kind of charisma in the Democratic Party? Why can't Michelle Obama change her mind and run?

The Democratic Party really should have groomed someone with almost as much charisma to run against Trump. Too many inside the party despise Hillary for her to have been the best choice, sadly. I don't think she would be so bad. She certainly would have been better than Trump, anytime, anyplace, anywhere.

So, when it comes right down to it, I will get damned enthusiastic for the nominee, whoever it ends up being, except Gabbard. Even then, I would have to go against everything I know about people who believe in conversion therapy for gay people (they never stop believing that crap, even though I don't see a single one of them volunteering to show us by example, I always tell them, "After you, asshole." ) and vote for the might as well be a Republican Gabbard. I would NOT be enthusiastic about her at all, guaranteed.

The rest, I can do it without a problem, but I'm not overly enthused. At this point with me, it is anything but more Trump. I'm beyond sick of him. The damage has been done though. Look at SCOTUS. We will never get that back balanced even somewhat again. Not in my lifetime. The damage has been done.

The only way to MAGA is to come back and spend however long it takes to clean up the mess Trump has made. That probably won't happen in my lifetime. In my lifetime, it has been three Democrats and six Republicans. This about that math for a second. You'll see why I'm not the least bit happy with the trend. My gut tells me we are going to end up stuck with fucking Trump for 8 full years. I dread it beyond words.

Any of them, except Gabbard, will make me damned excited, though, when it comes to the general election. I'm still on my the Obamas are gone/how did time fly that fast hangover/depression. Plus, my aunt died recently. She was a die hard Democrat. The rest of my family is Republican and rabid**. I might need some time.

*And this is coming from someone who voted for Hillary against him the primaries back then. I grew to love the Obamas before all was said and done. A lot of that was due to Michelle Obama and their children, re: gay marriage, according to the stories I read.

**My mother says any time someone immigrates to America, America should cut off funding and sever all ties to the country they came from. That should give you some idea the depths of stupidity that exists in Trump supporters where I live...and in the rest of my family. I KNOW I am outnumbered. So, my vote is just my one vote and there is no educating willfully ignorant assholes like my mother.

8. I am enthusiastic about everyone whose last name is not Trump

Elizabeth is my first choice but I would vote for a pool of tepid vomit or a dead cockroach under the refrigerator over Trump.

9. 7/10. I'll admit I'm not as stoked about Bernie as I was in 2016.

A lot has happened since then, and some of the wind has definitely been taken from his sails (and mine). I wish he was 20 years younger.

10. :) Inclination to high rates of enthusiasm comes first from within

the enthusiasts, and they tend to be drawn to candidates who are able to connect to that need for someone to feel enthusiastic about. Rarely a new leader generates wide enthusiasm; usually that happens for someone who's been in office for a while. FDR was an unenthusiastic pick for most in the beginning

Venal media have done a job on us by insisting those candidates who aren't generating demonstrably enthusiastic followings are doing something wrong. What's really going on is that exciting leaders, like Trump, sell newspapers. Good citizens are self directed, though, and don't need candidates to come "excite" them out of a politically vegetative state.

And we're the liberal party, and most liberals just don't tend to be devoted followers. Calm liking for a candidate in one person is just as good as enthusiasm in another, and often far more committed. In fact, Democratic voting rates are highest among those who don't require being excited, and we usually elect people the media excoriated for not providing the excitement they need.

And I will just support the Democratic nominee. There's nothing in the remaining group I find compelling.

12. I am about 15 out of 10 for Yang

If that isn't Yang, then that is all that will happen as I will simply tune out the process as best as possible as I did in 2016 after Bernie was eliminated.

I will vote in November for the nominee and frankly it likely won't make any difference in my rather Red State.
