Former Vice President Joe Biden would restore credibility in the White House and respect among allies around the world. Former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg brings refreshingly smart, youthful optimism. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota offers a track record of bipartisan achievement. Much like Warren, Bernie Sanders champions the working class.

But at this moment, our country needs more. We need a president who can work the levers of government to translate ideas into signed laws and effective regulations. We need a president committed to bringing our troops home from open-ended foreign entanglements. We need a president who understands that the American dream itself is at risk: the ideal that someone who works hard and plays by the rules can get ahead, and that their children will do even better. With Warren, the Oval Office will be occupied by someone who has made rebuilding the middle class her life’s work.

These tall tasks will require resilience and courage in the face of inevitable attacks from the GOP — both during the campaign and while in office.

Warren has proven she is tough and fearless...

The Register’s endorsement landed as Ms. Warren worked her way through her selfie line after a town-hall-style event in Muscatine, Iowa.

She did not find out until after she took the final picture, when her communications director, Kristen Orthman, pulled her aside to share the news.

Ms. Warren leapt back in excitement — pulling her hands to her chest, as if to say, “what, me?” — and then pumped both hands in the air and did a little dance. Ms. Orthman then appeared to show Ms. Warren the editorial on her phone.

Ms. Warren gulped down a sip of coconut water, one of her campaign trail staples, and headed over to a gathered group of reporters and microphones with a smile.

“I just heard and I’m delighted,” Ms. Warren said of the endorsement. “It really means a lot to me. I’m very happy.”

Great choice and a very thoughtful justification. The endorsement brought out very clearly that Warren is a very different candidate from Bernie Sanders: she has a proven track record as a senator and as an advisor of government agencies: the National Bankruptcy Review Commission, FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation) Advisory Committee on Economic Inclusion, National Bankruptcy Conference, etc.

It's almost like their editorial board changes over time or something.

The publishers strongly supported Republican Wendell Willkie's 1940 presidential campaign against Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt.

...

On October 13, 2018, the Register endorsed all Democratic candidates standing for the House of Representatives in the 2018 midterm elections saying that Republicans have "failed to govern."
